I had heard that too - hence my statement? :P

What I think is based on the little I read of Joyce (I've stumbled past (and over...) copies of both 'a portrait' and 'ulysses') and Milton (which is very little - seventh chapter - that deserves a medal I'd say...). But, it's not just Joyce and Milton.

I understand the classical music analogy - I used to hate the stuff not that long ago when I had less of an open mind (and was less mature) but even with an open mind... just... Milton, Joyce... ergh....

As for cyberpunk - of course it's pretentious - but at least it's fun

Actually - on another note - I'm reading 'The Conscience of the Eye' and 'The Fall of Public Man' by Richard Sennet since I had to skim them for my exams - I'd reccommend them to anyone who lives in an urban area - just turn the pages when he starts going on a bit and blaming it all on christian and victorian value systems...

*snicker*

I have always wanted to read that book, but haven't gotten around to it. For a writer and English major, I find I have a killer of a time finding time to actually sit down and READ!

I recently finished War of the Worlds... the ending is kind of lame, with the bacteria killing them all. Realistic, but not exactly exciting.

Otherwise, excellent book!

I kind of liked The Da Vinci Code, read some of his other books after I finised it though and found that all Brown's book are the exact same book :(

Currently I'm revisiting the world of fantasy after a few years away (used to devour fantasybooks  ), George R R Martin's A song of Ice and Fire series to be exact. Without a doubt the best fantasy ever written!

Floyd, you're the only other person I've ever met who's read Vernon God Little. I honestly didn't think it was all that good, unless you ask a really horrible question at the end. Certainly, I found the voice to be too affected to be funny.

What can i say, i read alot of trash  i really did like it though, i think it bows down to typicall teenage stereotypes just a little to much, but otherwise a very entertaining romp... maybe your just hard to please!? What would be the horrible question? i'm in a very ditzy mood today, and finding that people are making less sense than myself for once...
