That's what I like to hear, a bit of the ol' rule by iron fist approach.

Guard: "did you say something"

person: "uh..no, why?"

Guard: "that's it, lock him up. Conspiracy! 5 years should do it *smirks*

Prisoner (formerly person): "wait! what did I do?"

*gets dragged to prison*

Jail time.

My very first charactor played the game for about 5 minutes before being dragged to prison in Karnan. He stole a kilt among other things, served One year and is now doing a second year digging rock. He was treated very fairly by a Lt. Zahn, fed the best of cooked meat and was handed a trowel to build a cell. Another half a year and He will be free to go seek his fortune.

I have a character that has served about three years in prison in total (I don't play many characters, so this is a first for me)

What happened was that some enemies of the central governement came into town, and unwittingly identified themselves. I whispered to all the guards and the goverment representitives.

When the big central government guy woke up, he thanked me and told the enemy type people to follow him to be imprisoned or that they were too be killed, and that the citzens would take them out, and he then left.

The local guy who ran the town, along with his possee of "merry men", said that, seeing as the enemies had commited no crime, he would not allow anything to be done to them. I said that if they ran, I would follow them, because I didn't want them to hurt anyone (they were from a known murder gang) The guy said he wouldn't have it, I said that I would listen to the more powerfull central government guy. And I was thrown in prison for years without warning.

So, essentially, I was thrown in prison for insisting I would obey the law. Go figure.

Since then, I only roleplay completely law-abiding citizens, because I don't want the same thing to happen again. Which is a pity, because other characters have now missed out on some good opportunities for decent roleplay situations. I just don't want them to have their lives ( and my time ) wasted because of some players unwillingness to let their characters interact with one that is in prison.

That's shame. I hate it when you work hard on something and then it is destroyed, although I suppose everyone hates that.

But is that why your guy had gone all "wondering monk"? I thought I had met the Dalai Lhama, I swear.

But he seems to be building on something that the lawmen don't find attractive, eh?

Having read some of the more recent posts on here, I am seriously considering starting up a more obvious 'less-than-law-abiding' character. It's nice to know that some players don't just lock up criminals and then forget about them.

Well, I'm not saying you should intentionally create a criminal. I'm just saying you shouldn't limit your characters before they are born, is all.

Don't worry. I only give my characters very basic personalities when they first spawn. I let the events that happen to them define who they turn out to be. A lot of my characters are completely different people to what I thought they would become.

My rogueish character that I may/may not create could turn into a perfectly law abiding citizen given the right circumstances.

I only placed a restriction on my characters that they wouldn't take chances of getting locked up, so that the same thing that happened to the one in my first post, didn't happen again. As I explained - It is a waste of time building up the personality of a character only to have him/her rot away in a prison for 4 years with no-one to RP with. But, as you can see from my second post, I have changed my mind about that.

Incidentally, do I hold the record for longest character incarcerated? It was 4 Cantr years and a day or so.

I can't remember the name of the guy in Doryskom who was in jail for like 20 years.

But he can't have been active, can he? Someone must have fed him, eh?
