Not that I condone that sort of thing, (mentioned in the beginning posts, I didn't read most of them)

But I think it is a false analogy with RL to say that you are "on the street" when in a chatroom or I.M. It's more like being at a club or party.

At Least when in a chat room things like this don't really physically happen, yes they may happen verbally but not physically.

Those are freaks too, the occasional drunk guy covering me in spit as he tries to tell me I am hot and he wants me to go to the parking lot with him
Image, or the guys who try to make out when you are clearly dancing with someone elseImage. One time I had this old guy in a trenchcoat and a suit trying to get me to play with his unit when I clearly told him I was not interested, but rather there with my Girlfriend. It finally took the bouncer tossing him to the cops outside to leave me alone, I waited around afterwords for a bouncer buddy of ours to get off of work so he could walk us to my car.....Image
ImageHAHAHAHA!

"EEEwwww he's got old balls"....Adam Sandler

I must say at the end of the night I would rather come home to my husband. :) Image

This topic is way too funny. :P Sadly.

I have a stalker on YIM. (I swear yahoo is the worst for people who go looking to IM others out of the blue.) Anyhow, this guy has been messaging me for nearly two years now. He's from Pakistan and it started out just as the conversation at the beginning of this topic did. Then I got fed up and asked for this person to leave me alone. I even ended up putting him on ignore. (I don't have permanent ignore so everytime I log out and log back in this guy is able to message me again.) I got tired of having to ignore this person so I just started being a jack ass about the whole thing.

Now when he IM's me I say ignorant and weird things to him, before he has the chance to do so to me. I tell him Im a transvestite, and he asks.."What is that Shadra"..I say..."It is a peach and pear pie with whip cream on top." Then he says.."Shandra I want to f*ck ur backside" And I'm like.."Do you know what bread is?" lol Seriously...its a lot more fun than to press the ignore button. Tellin him I'm married and not interested just gets old after a while. Plus, I can barely contain my laughter when I ask him something stupid of which he doesn't know how to translate, then he answers like he knew how to anyways, with a reply that doesn't even pertain to the topic. "Yes, I want to marry you," he'll say- after I've asked him how he got diabetes.

Its probably very childish of me, but I think its very ignorant likewise for someone to continue msging me asking such questions after they've already been told it will never happen.

Though I must say, once you stop visiting chat rooms, the spontaneous IM stalkers lessen. In the meantime I've turned my stalker into a form of entertainment, though it's still annoying to get his msg at least once a week. :x

Usually I try not to chat with people who write bad English, even if they happen to be American. It's f**king annoying when someone 13 and a half years old comes talking like "a/l/s? -- kool -- 13/m/flor -- kool - u have b/f??? -- kool -- u have pic?? -- y not -- ???"
Of course it must sound stupid I write like the way I do, it's like someone came to talk to me on standard Finnish "Mikä sinun nimesi on?/Kuka sinä olet?" (What's your name?/Who are you?) when a normal person would say "Mikä sun nimi on?/Kuka sä oot?" (Wuts ur name?/Who r u?)
I hate Turkish guys most of all. And Egyptians. They think all European girls are whores. Always asking when I'm coming to see them in Turkey. I usually ignore them.
And then this message on ICQ: "has found you on the internet./Can't send file, add to contact list please." MUST be a bot.

that's quite an impressive drag from the depths of the Cantr forum. One day off a year old...

But you're right...

*blinks*

An interesting topic for your first post... did you trawl through the forum looking for spmething offensive against Turkish people? :?

I just don't understand resurrecting a topic dead for a year... and just saying something rather inane...

He joined the day before, maybe he spent a whole day looking for something he could find offensive?

I would find that strange... but having just read this thread, I am inclined to believe it normal in comparison.

Seriously, nothing like that has EVER happened to me. Or even come close... only 7 people from Cantr have spoken to me outside of Cantr, on any kind of IM service, and that's about as strange as it gets for me. (although some of them are quite strange... ) Maybe I don't visit the right kind of chatrooms and websites? :P

Anyway... if I ever needed anything to dissuade me from using IM, this would definitely help...

I think Seko probably meant that the turkish people who IM her assume that all Europeans are whores. And since you don't know who's been IMing her, who are you to challenge that assertion?

On the other hand, now that we've got a Turkish language area I expect we'll see a lot more Turkish people around...and Seko, they're likely to search the forum for "Turkish" to see who else is around (as is natural) so I wouldn't be surprised if you get more people expressing their disappointment in you.

Oh great. I won't be changing or deleting out my opinions just because there's a Turkish community being started in Cantr. Even if people from all countries have their faults and good sides, in the web I've ran into most clashes with people from Turkey, Egypt and around there. If I have more nice experiences then I might change my mind. But I'm sure not doing it just because someone tells me to.
