Well, I noticed the only way to do an emote was to do the little funky thing with the asterisks. Not that asterisks don't look awesome, but it's just kinda... ya know... unnatural and stuff. I think you should have a scroll down menu where you could choose between Say and Emote. For example:
write in [sits on the ground] in the little box, then select [emote] in the scroll-down menu; everybody sees:
A man in his twenties sits on the ground.
Ignore the fact that this is my first post, and what do you think about this? I think it looks a whole lot better than the asterisks.
Emotes?

I had no idea what you were trying to say until you put the example. As much as I would hate to see another set of buttons to click (that's why I don't own a playstation), I like the end result.
Doubt it's worth the effort just to clean up the page a bit, but it's a nice thought. And I think the current emote system works just fine, but that's my opinion. *winks*

You're right... You can always use emote, then...
A man in his twenties does [blah blah blah], then says "[blah blah blah]".
Sorta hard, reaching your fingers to the quote button.

How would you tell the difference between, say:
"You see a woman in her twenties take some carrots."
done by using the emote button and:
"You see a woman in her twenties take some carrots."
done by actually picking up carrots?
I like the idea, but I'm not convinced it would really work, because it could blur the line between a game mechanic that exists and an action that's done by roleplay. We can't have people going round using emotes when they should have used mechanics.
guy1 "Hey, when are you going to give me my potatoes?"
guy2 "I already did."
guy1 "But I don't have them"
guy3 "Well, I saw him hand over some potatoes."

It could be written in italics, like done in a crappy game called RaceWarKingdoms. Or not so crappy, just repetitive. Besides, because the sentence starts with the character's name, and game sentences start with you see, it couldn't be mixed up.
You see a woman in her twenties picking up some carrots.
You point at a woman in her twenties.
You say: "Hey, drop them!"
A woman in her twenties drops some carrots.
You say: "Nice try but you're still standing on the pile."

That would be fine for people who happen to have read this thread, but I don't think the distinction could be made clear enough to the entire player base, and any new players. Even with them looking different, I can see it causing problems. I don't think the ** thing is really enough of a problem to be worht devoting time and effort to fixing, especially if that fix could open possibilities of abuse that didn't exist before.
