barley?

Postby melbi » Thu May 26, 2005 3:07 pm

Is there a way in Cantr to make barley edible?

I think that I can legitimately ask for a simple yes or no.

If it's impossible in the game to process barley, it sucks
because there are some areas where it is the only food
that grows (if it *is* food).

I've looked at just about every machine and tool there
is to see whether they process barley, but I haven't found
one that does.

Barley is not a food. And its use is currently not programmed.

In the real world barley is used to make beer. But there is no beer in Cantr yet.

It also makes a delicious beef-barley stew.

RKL!

Make me a stew, cookable in a big stone pot, with animal meat, barley, and wood as resources.

Pretty please?

"Barley is not a food"?!?!?

Obviously, that's a Cantr definition, since barley certainly IS a food in real life. It's a grain, just as edible as rice, and prepared in much the same way.

You people do realize that barley as a food came before barley in beer, right?

And food is not my area of expertise.

Who does that, then?

Who can implement such a thing?

To tell you the truth, I'm not really sure. It seems there are only a few people in Resources these day that are active. There is Anthony, TJ, Wim, and myself. I know Anthony does the vehicles and buildings (plus he is chair of our department), TJ works on clothing and animals, and Wim....well I'm not really sure what Wim does but he does stuff. Myself, I work on weapons, protection, tools, machines, and whatever I decide to take up. There are quite a few projects I'm working on right now.

Your best bet would be to put something in Suggestions forum where we may see it someday and say well maybe we'll work on this one day.

I work on everything, really. Except Weapons. I refuse to touch those, or Richard would have my head.

Barley, and several other in game existing things have no use. However, I am in the works of researching and giving them a use.

So, yeah.

Are we allowed to see the list of what currently has no use besides barley? Cobalt, etc?

Remember when nobody, not even in Cantr City, knew what sorghum was good for?

 Yeah.

edit: And remember how long we had [tool needed to pick lock] in the game, with no one knowing what it was? Almost as soon as one character found it out, *somehow* everyone it seems a lot of people do.
