If you think Cantr is boring, try to enliven it yourself!

EDIT: Nitefyre beat me to it... but my point still stands. :x

Because I can't be bothered to climb my way through the ranks of these BORING governments so I'm in a position to do so. So instead I'll tell it to you, the people who are in such positions.

So...who is forcing your character(s) into those societies? If your character(s) don't like the society maybe they should decide to leave, and find some people who agree with his/her ideals and principles, find a piece of unoccupied land, and build their own society.

If it is an IC problem then deal with ICingly.

Do I need to say much more?
If you don't like Cantr, change it using your characters - if you want to try and infuse other players with the drive to change it - infuse their characters with that dirve to change things.

If you are just frustrated, fair enough.

But if you are going to start a thread like this, at least be able to hold and support an intelligent argument.
Calling people 'numpty' will just make people laugh at you, and stop taking you seriously.

I thought this thread would be about newspawns naming themselves "Kermit the Frog" and "Fozzy" and talking in funny voices.

Since episode three came out last thursday, I'll quote the Star Wars Cantina...

"His name was Yoda... he was a muppet"

I'm sure I've heard at least one character talk in Yoda speak. The cloest thing to a muppet I've seen in Cantr...

Having the nickname Muppet, I find it very disturbing to be associated with crappy thoughts and newspawn theives.

I don't think any particular kind of government or form of town-sponsored entertainment is going to stop newspawn theives or other kinds of seemingly mindless chars from doing thier mindless thing because:

1) When they spawn they usually aren't around long enough to even find out what is going on in the town

2) If their purpose is to get killed so they can respawn someplace else then they just don't care

3) Some players are just kinda dumb and can't help being poor roleplayers

4) Some players are so new to the game they don't understand what they are doing

5) Some players are just trouble makers and want to be as annoying as possible

I've seen an number of different and interesting govenmental styles, towns that are plenty of fun and also some kick-ass Cantr parties. Maybe your chars need to see more of the world, CM.

IMO....along with your post of why they steal....some people read the posts on here about life being "too easy" and decide to make some of their characters "thiefs"....it IS possible to steal things from places and live...;) I know!! :D

Actually with the skill system those newspawn thieves could be a valuable resource - to train that town army in a real hit and kill combat, without
making the government blamable of killing innocents.

1) No because if they have experienced the richness in society they will WANT to stay around to find out what its like. Thats why i cam here rather than do it IC in cantr, because my five characters cant change the whole of the Cantr world (...but I'm working on it!)

2) For the same reasons above, if a place is a good place and they enjoy it there. They wont want to die.

3) Doesn't matter, good role players or not if they are of more benifit not mucking about the ywont, will they.

4) Can't be fixed, but thats not what I'm talking about. I guess you'll just have to live with this lot.

5) Why would they when its not beneificial.

Thankyou Kinvoya for being the only person to explain why you don't get the whole idea.

Isn't this game about rp? I mean... some people want to play an annoying character. Some people don't want a character to live. Some people want their character to disagree with government of any type and make them rebel against it. It's all in the rp, baby, yeah... It's just how a person sees that character being. Some people want a few evil characters to throw in the mix and spice Cantr life up. Some people... Do you get what I'm saying? The same thing Kinvoya was saying...

Because there are so many players, playing so many characters, Cantr as a whole, will never become some Utopian paradise... That's when it would get boring... There will be characters that don't care how good a government is, or how beneficial it is to be law-abiding, just like there are people in this world that don't care... You can give some characters everything you think they could want and they'd say, "Flippin' no! I don't want to be a cookie-cutter goodie two-shoes!" I have some characters that I don't want to settle for some glorious government and gain all their means legally, or kindly... Just as people in this world are diverse, so should be the ones in Cantr...

There will always be the newspawns that steal and basically do annoying things... whether it's poor rp or just suicidal rp.. No matter where they are... No matter how beneficial their government might be... Can't avoid that...

Just keep doin' the best you can with your characters that want to change it, and maybe you'll begin to see a nice difference in it all though... ;)

I don't know about you guys, but I think the both of you were a bit rude there....isn't this a forum for EVERYONE to express their opinions on things??? And besides....I don't believe your posts have gone beyond the rank of "rubbish" either...

Yeah, the rubbish comment is annoying (though in here it wasn't meant as insulting). But everyone hates spawn and run thieves. Everyone should try to play the best they can. It's much more cunning to pick up things and reason your way out of it than just run which means 99% chance of getting killed. There was an interesting thief in Reniov mountains last time but seems to me the player accidentally clicked delete account instead of log out, that's the only explanation I can think of. And I was thinking, woah, finally someone actually getting creative with the ordinary theft. We've gotten so used to treating spawn and run thieves like some sort of bacteria that it's a real surprise when one of them proves out to have a mind.
