Player / character stats

Postby Jos Elkink » Sat Nov 15, 2003 10:41 am

Just interesting, I hope:

Image

Which means we're stable, but making little progress ... Well, not entirely true, as expected, over time the number of active players should increase relative to the number of inactive ones, and that seems to be the case, but the number of players is not increasing fast enough ...

Oh, in case it's not obvious - the red line is the number of players, the yellow one the number of characters.

the big drop around 540 or so is interesting, what could have caused that?

I would expected a rise over the holidays, as more people have time to play and discover Cantr, I joined over the summer holidays

No, with online games, the opposite is common ...

People go away and don't have access to a computer during the holidays.

Anyways, the dip could have been one player with multiple accounts suddenly deciding to quit. :D

this was during the server move and the repeated time

a long build up of players that had experimented and moved on

If you notice, the drop in the number of players there is only slightly less than the drop in the number of characters so I would guess that a lot of new people with only one character each quit because of the server problems.

It would be interesting if ever there was a world war or massive conflict were to arise, to see how the graph fluctuated

plus the actual timeout for non-use of their ids was pushed back.
I remember those weeks.
It was raining resources everywhere

Heh, I wanted to post a new graph instead of the one above, but instead accidently overwrote it :) ... So, the graph in the first message is posted now, and the text around it is about a different graph...

So, the graph shows that we're doing really well in terms of number of characters - which is good, as it means a larger proportion of our players is actively playing - but in terms of number of players we're not doing as well. We're going fine and steady, but not growing as fast as I would like ;) ...

Well, I put the English and Dutch posters on my door...and the Russian one a bit lower, in case there's a Russian midget who would be interested...since...Russia is cool, and midgets are cool... so Russian midgets would have to be übercool ^^;;;

Tiny little short person. ^__^ As in...armrest hight for most people. A flat headed midget could get a job standing next to a chair and letting people use it as a table for drinks. Sorry if I offended any midgets ^^

Also referred as dwarf, hobbit, and halfing as well. But these days they are most commonly referred to as a midgets. Small person with either regular human features or small person with irregular humand features such as head bigger in size compared to the proportions of the body (these kinds of midgets are usually referred as dwarves). Midgets usually occurr because of birth defects because of starvation or lack of water in birth mother. Or it is genetic to Scandanavian people and even Northern Europeans though that has not been proven except that these are usually the only people that have midgets. Some scientists believe that the gene was carried by Norsemen (or Vikings to those that don't know) and was transferred to other people during the Middle Ages by the Norsemen who traveled all across Europe and even down into the Middle East.

Reason why I am so interested is because I'm only 5'1" so I have researched this as well as I have only or believed only blood of a Northern Europe including Norweign which is where my last name comes from. But lucky for me, I am above midget height but people still consider me a midget. I have been known to say that if people are always looking for the giants they will miss the passing of the ants. :D
