Gone but not Forgotton

Postby Black Canyon » Sat May 21, 2005 3:44 am

I was thinking that although we have a thread called memorable dead..... it is mainly targeted at characters which were extraordinarily notorious in some way. However, along the way there have been characters that have had a profound effect on some of mine...... although they might have been only known to only a few. So I wanted to mention some. I have no idea who the players were of these characters, and in some cases I don't know why they died......in most cases it's likely the players stopped playing.

PepeYLlo (spanish area) He was really the most patient of all men, my little character tagging along with him and stumbling through her poor attempts at the language. He actually spent much time guiding and correcting her speech mistakes in a most kind and appreciated way. It was quite a tragedy when the two became separated after getting lost....... They finally found each other on the road..... he was starving and knew it (around the time of the new hunger bar).....and never made it to the next town.

Lillith She was very quiet, but was able to capture the interest of my character who up to that point only lived iron smelting and hematite crushing in Metalworks. When she finally died after a long sleep, it was soon after Jo Jo's death...... and there really was nothing else to keep him at Seatown Forest. He has been wandering ever since.... trying to find a fit for himself.

Korgath .......... He was a real gentleman and watched after my character from practically the day she was spawned. He was truly a wonderful soul. Theirs was a sweet, caring, and playful relationship. My character has spent her entire life with him, travelling, collecting resources, and ultimately working on rebuilding their town. They married and she never imagined having to go on without him. She may not.

There are others, and I might mention them later. But I don't want to bore everyone to tears right away. Anyone else have anybody they would like to mention?

 I can't believe you made me cry over imaginary characters in an online game that I didn't even know! Thank you for sharing them. This is a great idea for a thread. I'll be adding my own fondly remembered chars soon.

Nick's list of favorite dead characters
10)Redfish Jones - Very well and originally RPed. Sure, there are people who RP blind, deaf, mute, or stupid characters. But it's not unique. Even when I created Um I thought that speaking in the third person and being a little slow would be original-ish, but after making him I've noticed like three other characters with almost the same personality. Redfish's almost nonsensical ramblings were really fun to try to interpret. I ran across his application for Senator of Quillanoi a short while ago. A good healthy dose of Redfish far after his death.

9)Al Abhol - The original terrorist. I was there when he first got a locked building and bow and started going outside to shoot everyone and run back in (no one knew how to break locks back then... and there was no tiredness). This posed such a problem on Blojt, that it forced them to rally together and form a government. Since this governmnet was formed on the basis of solving a real, in character problem, it is in my opinion the most natural government in Cantr. Kudos.

8)Sester Gartaff - From what I've heard OOCly, his life and involvement in organisations is even more complex than what I had known in character. Nonetheless, he led a pretty big army, and managed to live a long time and be a very powerful character. He may be the most important character one of mine have ever killed.

7)Alexi Romanov - Formed one of the best empires, maybe the best, of all time. He really had a grip on the citizenry, as it was tough to NOT do what the empire of Lad said at that time. He is what I think of when I think of a well ran Cantrian dictatorship.

6)Maynard Leeward - Most influential character in KDS culture and history, period. And for that region, that's saying a lot.

5)Craktar - He practically perfected Cantr industry. Maynard may have been a character for the developpment of the culture of the region, but he makes this list for his Cantrian achievement of excellence in his workshop. He was too mysterious for me to know TOO much about him, but he was behind of a lot of major events in the beginning of the now well cultured KDS region.

4)Mogul Alexander Mason Blackrock - Sorry to put one of my own characters on here, but Nonirowk is awesome and he was a big reason why. He formed Tribe Blackrock, and the island practically formed around support and hate of the Tribe. Even if you want to argue that Rick O'Shea was the most influential character on the culture of that island, he's not dead so he's outta the topic.

3)Tencious Grax - A businessman in Quillanoi, ran what I believe to be the best run business to have existed in Cantr. Now perhaps organisations may now produce more than he did, or be more powerful, but he MASTERED the situation he was placed in, being Quillanoi. And adaptation is what makes a good character.

2)Johnathan Russell - Singlehandedly created the best organised government in Cantr. Quillanoi is how I pictured Cantr before I played it. But... and I hate to criticize Jos.. I really felt that his government seemed too forced and OOC, as they never really went through the oppression needed to yearn for the type of democracy they have. It's structure is developped to support an economy and government much larger than will ever be needed in the forseeable future. Still, awesome character.

1)Lunatic Larry - A well played leader of a crazy group of religious fanatics, that happened to be my first experience with combat with my characters... this wasn't long after violence was first introduced to the game. I killed many of them off with a dung fork and iron shield. :D That would have been considered a huge battle back then, but it certainly was slow paced by today's standards. Took years. (years didnt exist back then, but using modern terms...)

This thread is about remembering the chars who are relatively unknown, Nick. Almost everyone you mentioned is already famous and well-remembered in the other thread.

And including your own char...

Actually, the topic is about dead characters who have had profound influences on your own.

edit: And while everyone SHOULD know the names to all of these characters, that's unfortunately not the case.

So :P

And please stop bashing posts just because I'm the author. Get a life.

Hmm...

Stock MacGregor
Bufford T. Law
Tony Ward

They were very good to my character (who died when I quit playing for a while). She met them in a very harsh environment. She met Stock first and the other two were spawned while they were trying to make some shields, I believe. The lions killed all of them, except my character who was taken under a passing person's wing, shortly after they died. She left them memorial notes, which I'm surprised are still there. If she were still alive, I know she'd think of them fondly.

Ehm.. that's all... really none of my characters have ever lived long enough to lose important figures in their lives. She was the exception, I suppose. All my current characters are barely 21, and the characters on my old account were maybe 22-23 when they all died.

Agop Pasdfui, a good administrator before Alexi's death and kept the Empire going afterwards.
The original Siom Councilors.

Agop! I liked him a lot too ^.^ I think I already mentioned Abigail Mornet.
I never knew the chars original name, but he got renamed Sal, and he was awesome.

I meant the first topic to be like this and have posted only characters that had a personal meaning rather than being notorious, but somehow it just turned out to be a gallery of dead celebrities.

Enoch - he had a beautiful heart and genuine concern for a confused young woman, he had taught her alot about life, made her smile but he got the 'sickness' and eventually passed away...to this day she still misses him.

There's an Enoch in AJS, I wonder if there's any connections. :?

A character named, simply, "Benjamin".

I do not know weather he is still alive, but apparently, he spawned in Bljolt and moved to Blit around the early 800's, where he then proceeded to write a very erneast piece of revolutionary literature.

My character dug it out of the trash in a place a bit aways from Blit, and it helped fuel his thirst for change.

I don't know what happened to him after that, but he did have a huge effect on my character's life.
