How about a climate in Cantr

Postby MakeBeliever » Fri May 20, 2005 9:19 am

Thinking as there is a wide selection of clothes to be made in Cantr.
I thought it wouldbe a good idea to be able to have a climate to benifit the wearing of them.

You could have hot and cold places and see things like e.g

2010-2: You see a man in his twenties Shivering with the cold.
2010-2: You see Joe Bloggs die due to the cold and zero strength.

Perhaps you could loose life because of being cold.?

Maybe if you live somewhere hot you would see e.g

2010.2: You see a man in his forties sweating due to the heat.
2010.2: You see Mary Bloggs perspiring due to the heat.

So some people would be overdressed if they had on say fur or leather made clothing.

It would make a char think about what to wear to fit the climate maybe?
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent and Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect. It means you have decided to look beyond the imperfections.

I'm in favor for a weather system in Cantr, but I don't think it's a good idea to have quivering and perspiring as events, because it doesn't say a lot and just clogs up the event list. If you want it, put it in the character description.

And I don't think it's a good idea either to have people die from cold. Clothes are quite hard to get in Cantr. But you could slow down the production rate of a character if it's not properly dressed. When a character is too cold or too warm he works (or travels) slower.

Perhaps just

"it starts to rain"

"your work is hindered by the rain" as in, you work slower as rain usually slows work down somewhat.

or no effect from the precipitation whatsoever. just

"it starts raining"

"it stops raining, the sun comes out"

More motivation for RP i say.

I like the idea of rain, sun..snow in the mountains, but not the shivering or dying from the cold..

I think Crosshair's idea would be pretty cool.

I think it's one of those ideas they're thinking about implementing way down the line, from weather to tides....

It's on that Cantr Roadmap topic, I believe.

I agree with the first part (as usual, I agree with the vast majority of your posts, keep up the good work )

But I do think dying from cold should be a possibility. Or else it wouldn't really affect Cantrian culture as much as I'd like it to.

This could really differentiate towns from each other, with different climates and all.
