I can't be 100% sure, 'cause I'm not going to go back and read all my posts, but I'm pretty sure I have taken pains to avoid using language that means "absolutely all."

This may be the most "sweeping" statement I've made: "virtually all women become prostitutes because of a combination of childhood sexual trauma and drug adiction" I used the word "virtually" here in the sense of almost all. I may be incorrect on that usage. Feel free to look it up and correct me, anyone.

Also, isn't a "generalization" something that means, like, "generally" which does not mean "always"? A "sweeping generalization" would, I think, imply "almost all" but not still not "all."

I realize that word usage and implications may be different between American English and British English.

It's true that no one should really know what rape is, as it does not really happen.

Here's an interesting absolute for you from schme. How come no one has commented on this?

Because it was included in a post which most of us have probably assumed was influenced by heavy amounts of alcohol? In other words: not too many people took it seriously because Schme frequently seems to be standing on Mars when he talks....

I think things went off on a tangent - I was started by pointing out to Nick that he was right about generalisations being wrong - but that kinvoya wasn't generalising from what I read...

Then... well... wheee...

In Cantr.

I would have thought it was rather obvious. I suppose you guys just misunderstood.

I understood. And agree with your post, too. Genetalia are for peeing and making babies, neither of which Cantrians do. Who says they have em.

Really? Do tell.

It's the only way I can improve, you see.

I've never been one to critisieze myself.

Schme is one of the few people that actually make sense on this forum.

Yeah, the lack of moderation made it easy to really insult people, and made sure (in the latter days) that 95% of posts are porn spammers.

Just thought I'd post a few stats I saw in an article today for those who were disbelieving the high incidence of child sexual abuse:
In Germany alone, approximately 20,000 children become victims of sexual abuse every year, while Germany's Federal Police estimate that the actual number of sexual crimes against children is much higher. Experts believe that up to 550 German children are being abused each day.

Germany's annual crime statistics show that 15,255 cases of child abuse were recorded in 2004, four of which involved the killing of the child. That number was down 1.1 percent from 2003.

This is not to single out Germany in any way, just happened to be the subject of the article which can be found here:

Why do people assume they have no sexual organs?

A.) In the tabs at every character page it says "People." Okay, so they're people. People have sexual organs.

B.) When a character does something it is either _He_ or _She_ does. You see a woman-man in their-- Thus there is a distinction between a male and a female, if there weren't, there is no way other characters with-in cantr could acknowledge a male from a female. How else do you tell a male from a female when you approach them? I've seen many women who look like men, and if it weren't for their breasts I would have likely called them a sir. There isn't that possibility in cantr to mistake a male for a female. They have sexual organs. If they were anything else, I'd like to note it would defy the point of the capital rule where it states there are no mystical creatures.

People are not born without sexual organs except for so many cases, females are with vagina and males are with penis. UNLESS you're trying to tell me, the cantarians are the "so many cases." Then still, you'd have to explain how my character knows your character is a male, if it's a people but can't see anything different that would destinguish him from being a female. Can't say it's instinct becaues "People" don't have that instinct.
I hate people.

Yes, that forum certainly wasn't 'family friendly'.

What about men with boobs?
Or women without.

Cantrians just 'are' males and females. You inherently know who is male or female, just like for whatever reason that you are born knowing how to make a car.

But they're people with out super-natural powers, so that can't be right. Secondly, they're not supposed to "just" know how to build a car.

We use the english language (and others, of course) as an ooc influence in Cantr. It has to be that way, or no one would know what a hammer or car was. We don't change definitions of known words, or deny their definition.

That is what you're doing by not acknowledging that the differences exist. Same as not acknowledging that a Cantria (person) has hands or feet.
