Done it and would do it again. And the "good reason" is the offender had considered himself undervalued for years. He tried to help people but everyone just took advantage of him, most walking out of his life without a word of thanks. His friends were falling down with the sleeping sickness left and right. And there was a hatred for women blooming inside him, every time he'd had a crush on someone the someone had either walked away or died or both, vanished from his life. He felt betrayed. Couldn't convey his emotions. Sometimes it got too much to bear and he was showing signs of violence, but no one cared. He wanted to leave but didn't want to leave his sleeping friend, or his responsibilities. He hated the village, instead of a home it had turned into a death trap. He knew that staying there he would just fade away like all the others and be forgotten. But he felt like there wasn't enough strenght in him to start a new life elsewhere. So he seeked a quick end to it. Unable to take his own life he would force others to kill him. And the hatred towards the village personified into the leader, a woman. He would make her realize how unfair and cruel the world really is, just like he'd learned along the years. She would kill him for that, so he thought, but the shock of it would make sure he wouldn't just be forgotten. So one day he just snapped and attacked her. Started groping her. She attacked him back and escaped the situation, which I saw as a no, and went no further, just left, telling her clearly if she would follow then he'd rape her. But she came after him, and refused to hurt him again. Tried to talk him into turning back. He gave the last warning but she wouldn't shut up, wouldn't turn back. So he made true of his threat. Was going to leave her on the road afterwards but again she followed, and at the moment they're in a bizarre relationship, though superficially he's the master and she's the slave, he's very much bound to her and at the moment might not even survive on his own.

I'm sure your feelings are shared by all, and I'm sure that the people that have RP'd it aren't just going to come out and say "Oh, yeah, I RP'd rape.... I just thought it would be fun"... It's something that they's want to keep secret in their demented little minds, and just go along like nothing happened. PD may look into it, if it's getting out of hand, but at the same time, if it's just one or two occurrences, it may get overlooked as a rarity.
I'm quite sure I already admitted it, myself:

In any case sexual assault statistics say 85% of men don't consider what they did "rape".
That's what they tell me, in any case.
Of course, that's not terribly reassuring to me...during the Interfraternity Council's "safe sex" lecture we all had to attend, apparently the only way a guy absolutely can't be accused of rape is if the girl rapes him.
There was a nice situation at Brown a few years ago where a girl and a guy slept together consensually (albeit drunk), and she spent the night, had breakfast with him in the morning, and gave him her number, and then five weeks later decided it was a mistake and accused him of rape.

When ever I read subjects about sex or rapes I can't help thinking we have underaged people playing this game. Does it occur to anyone that you might rp sex with a 12 year old.
That's disgusting, it would be on msn, why not on any other "chat" program or game? Get real, think! RP-ing or not, there are 2 persons rp-ing sex.
-sorry 12 year olds

Usually you can tell someone is underaged by the way they write. But if they give reason to believe they're interested then I wouldn't start telling anyone "OOC: Sorry but you rp too childish to me". I don't think that's a thing anyone would like to hear. There are many people out there in Cantr, if you want to have sex with someone then you're likely to select someone who shows they can rp. Or when it comes to raping a random bypasser, or anybody, don't just stick it in them, grab them and grope them just to make clear what's on your mind, no reason to use obscene words, and give them a chance to reply. If they don't do anything it's not worth it. Just kill 'em. Same thing if they attack you, nevermind if you'd rp'd taking hold of their wrists. But if they rp trying to break free, or struggling helplessly, that's a go-go.

I would really prefer that people who think acting out rape or cooperating as the rape "victim" in Cantr not play at all. I know some of you will be offended by that but the idea of someone even wanting to do that just totally squicks me out.
Seko, if someone (presumably male but not always) is having fantasies of raping people they will often fuel those fantasies through rape-oriented pornography and, now that they can, internet rp. Rapists typically start out with fantasies and escalate their behavior in other ways (peeping in windows, exposing themselves, grabbing body parts in crowded situations, etc.) until they work up to committing an actual rape.
I don't like the idea of Cantr as an incubator for rapists-in-training.
Women (and men) who have been molested as children or raped sometimes have a compulsive need to re-enact the events either as the rapist or the victim. The idea of this happening in Cantr just makes me terribly, terribly sad.

Personally, with rping rape in Cantr - I know I wouldn't play along.
I admit I haven't followed this thread - but, I'm sure that, if a player made a request to the PD, someone trying to RP rape which was not appreciated, would be dealt with.
I don't think, however, that any action need be taken until another player finds it distressing or just annoying.
One of the great things about the internet, and, arguably, one of its worst, is the freedom and anonymity it provides. Anyone, regardless of age, gender, morally questionable fantasies, past histories, beliefs etc. etc. can say, act, and roleplay, pretty much, as they wish on the net.
If free thought and free speech is to be advocated - that means applying it to those who you disagree with and who disgust you as much as it applies to anyone else. It is better to self-censorship, in the form disregarding, ignoring any actions, or simply just be safe in the knowledge of how much something disgusts you, is much more important than relying on governments, institutions, or, in this case, website owners.

I'm more or less okay with people doing whatever they want in chatrooms, on the net, in whatever twisted little worlds they might inhabit.
Just not in my cantr.
Cantr is property of Jos and (maybe) the GAC, and no freedom of speech is expressed or implied.
Cantr would suffer no detrimental effects if RPd sex was banned entirely, in the interests of creating a better/safer game environment.
Side note--free speech does not apply to the obscene or peurile with no redeeming social value, according to US legal precedent.
Incidentally, I am usually pretty libertarian in my politics. Cantr is our place, though, not the place for the flotsam and jetsam of the internet to fulfill their fantasies. Blargh.

I really don't see that Cantr needs any more control than the PD already provides.
Would it be possible to ban sex in cantr? Or even just rape? I don't see how that would be possible without 24hr monitoring or a word filter.
Presently, any unsavoury RP that a player dislikes can be reported to the PD and get dealt with pretty sharpish. If Jos decides stricter controls are needed, fair dos and kudos to him, like you said, no freedom of speech is implied. I was talking about the internet in general, and relying on personal censorship rather than relying on any other person or organisation.
What I'm suggesting, is rather than discussing a call for banning rape or even sex, be prepared to acknowledge that you can't protect yourself, or anyone else from everything and everyone on the net, and so exercise self censorship, in regards to what sites you visit, and what you ignore/report in Cantr or anywhere similar.
As far as kids, and possible exposure to someone RPing rape/sex, is concerned - the responsibility lies solely with the parents/carers, not with Jos or anyone playing Cantr.
