Really AoM? I don't remember learning it that way. I thought that the first person had gotten sick, which turned out to be a fungus or something in the food, and was screaming Nurse! Nurse! And there happened to be someone who was named Nurse (it might not have been nurse, but the same idea), who was the black lady, and the adults took it as an accusation of witchcraft. Then, other kids got bored and decided to do something like that as well.
Just because you're older, smarter, stronger, more talented... doesn't mean you're BETTER.

Well, the movie described it as I said. It was only one girl. The oldest out of these other girls, who was making them do what she did to make them lie on this woman and make everyone believe she was a witch.

There wasn't just one person doing the accusing, but yes there was sort of a ring leader. Her name was Ann Putnam.

Tituba was the black woman's name. Rebecca Nurse was a housewife who was accused and hung along with several other women in one of the rounds of hangings. The man who was killed was John Proctor, whose wife, Elizabeth Proctor was accused of witchcraft but was spared death because she was pregnant.

Another guy did die, but not by hanging. He was put under a huge rock, and they thought he was withholding evidence. They thought the weight would make him tell, but he suffered and was crushed to death. I think he was an old man, but i'm not too sure.
