How stupid do you guys think I am? The screen on my laptop cannot support anything but 800x600 on its size. If I increase it, the desktop is bigger than the screen... which creates problems as the start bar disappears.

I'll just have to wait until the summer when I get my new computer... :(

Yeah, don't you hate it when people tell you that problems with their website interface is due to your own inadequacies, and that you should change to fit *their* setup?

Some people like to have their technology in the 21st century technology level

I've moaned about this so much in other places

Any website should be able to be easily read in Lynx - text only - and it's what google uses. Anyone desiging a web page should check that anyone with Win 98, IE, a resolution of 600 x 400, no Java or flash or anything else, an ancient processor and no useful amount of RAM, can use their website with no problems...

Oh, man, if you think the Cantr website matches 21st century design, you are way off.

thankfully... The Cantr website is so slim and simplistic in design, that it's bloody heaven comaperd to some of the shite RP games out there...

I hope not too many people have problems with the ads ... I'm indeed hoping that it will substantially increase revenue for Cantr. If not, I'll remove them again.

We don't get anything for the charity ads, only for the commercial ones. And for the latter only when you click on them ;) ... What the amount is we get for clicking on them is variable, I think - Google uses some kind of complicated formula, I believe.

And yes, I added them, not phpBB ;) ... I had this planned a long time ago, but just never got to it. I'm hoping that ads on the forum will be better context-wise than those on the front page.

Btw, they are not by definition only text - I've set it so that it also allows Google to put graphical ones there.

Actually, I could make them slightly less wide, if that really helps people ... I don't think it matters for revenue or something :) ... Here are the possible sizes:

If anyone thinks another size / location would be better, please tell me, and I'll consider it. But don't say 'far at the bottom' ;) ...

Just one question... to anybody with computer knowledge...

Why is it that the ads upset the screen for me, yet the width of the advert box is fine. That fits on my screen. It is the affect it has on the rest of the screen... Why does this happen?

Sorry, I have very little computer knowledge.

About the ads, what's up with the 'Find a Term Paper' link? Isn't that just a tiny bit unethical? I'm surprised Google would support that, actually...

and you just reminded them :P

@Surly

I'm unsure how the adbox size would fit, and yet mess the rest of the screen up.

The box is a set size (something I abhor from a design point of view as it means it on;y works properly at a specific resolution) so perhaps it's something to do with the code that makes it work

Yaaaaaaaarrgh! Well... ok, maybe I get used to them eventually. But still yaaaaaaaaargh! I don't think I've ever seen a forum that has advertizements, at least that visible.
