Encrusting other weapons

Postby Yo_Yo » Wed May 11, 2005 4:03 am

Now I'm not suggesting stupid things, like encrusting your billy club with diamonds (bling bling!) But more along the lines of elegant weapons.

I know a certain couple of people who'd like some diamond encrusted Rapiers and whatnot.

A diamond encrusted sabre is a symbol of wealth.
It just woulnd't have the same effect on another type of weapon.
Like having spinners on a pinto.

I believe it was a scurrilous plot to preserve the vast surpluses of sabres at the very last moment from the dreaded Item Deterioration, but then at the eleventh hour the gods postponed judgement day...and postponed it...and postponed it...

I'd agree there could surely be a little more imagination around the place.

Jebus! You guys always think of all the sneaky tricks and I only learn them if somebody accidently mentions it on the forums and I happen to see the post before it gets censored.

I still like the idea of engraving items. That would be great. But what abour crossbows. The signle-handed most difficult weapon to make. They should have some type of upgrade

Iron bound (or shod) billy club.

It's been suggested before that other things be decorated. Hide covered wooden shield, feathered primitave bows, etc. It would be a "work around" to item rot.

Who suggested that ... hmmm ... oh that's right, it was ME.

That's not as effective as you may think, for "unforumable" reasons.

I like the idea, however, it won't be a work around for deteroriation. Don't have to worry about that, at the moment.

Regardless, I'll see what the other members think of this idea. Of course, I'd want an entirely new subcatagory for upgraded/enhanced weapons, cause, the weapons list is getting mighty large as it is...

Wow, that was fast! :D

But how about some love for those of us without iron or gems? For starters, I think it'd be cool to decorate a bone spear with feathers.

Actually, feathers or wood and bone beads would look great on a lot of the simpler weapons...

This and your comments about why can't bone and wood jewelry be more interesting both go back to my rant a while back about poor people getting shafted in the fun decorations area.

In rl poor people and people with limited access to resources all over the world find fabulous ways to decorate themselves and the things they own. It shouldn't only be the rich who get to have fun dressing up.

Acutally I add the sabre before I knew anthing about item deterioation. Nice try though.

As of right now, I have no plans to add anymore for the simple fact it clutters up my database too much. Especially now with all the bronze and steel and iron stuff. Sorry, guys. :(
