My favorite character in Lad was Geneia Freio. All she did all day every day was bake bread. With rare exceptions. :-)

The extraordinary waste of time and uselessness of manufactured foods with the exception of cooked meat, is frustrating. There could be ANOTHER brilliant business and the accompanying trade and interactions it brings if only there was a reason to cook.

I think something should be done to fix this. Why waste time baking when it's so wretched? But then again, who am i?

Have you ever made cookies? Or pizza? Or sushi? I know I haven't. I wouldn't assume that they're useless until you try.

I'm guessing there are some awesome high-cost high-density healing foods, and possibly travel foods, hiding in the little-explored depths of the cooking system.

I've not had sushi, but I have had cookies (waste(except as novelty), bread (not usable except under exception), and pizza (garbage (except as novelty).... which are three of the more easily "prepared" foods...

I've suggested this a few times before - as have others - I know I'd love to have a cook as a character - and all these 'Restaurants', 'Inns' and 'Kitchens' around Cantr might actually be put to active use...

Unfortunately, I don't think restaurants will ever take off. Nobody would ever pay for a single meal and then sit down to eat it; there's no social aspect to eating as it's done instantaneously and automatically. And even if you do eat a rare delicacy no one can see you do it.

(I talked about this a little more in the 'Nests' thread in Suggestions, it's something I've been thinking about awhile and I might end up making a thread about it..)

One of my characters is married to a very fine chef that I appreciate very much for the quality roleplay. Sure, there's not a mechanical advantage to the little meals that they eat together, but man is it a lot of fun! :D I feel like I can't spoil the secret of how we pull ot off, but some bread would actually add to the meal very nicely. I'm just gald we managed to find dessert to go with it.
