So it seems there's a line pulled by individual players... Now that's nice. That's what i'm trying to keep my chars to too. (hmmm maybe I should learn english)
Now how does one handle in more delicate situations where actions might mess up your characters life. It happens, trust me. Should one just deny it?

Not that good.

Many emotes are so small that only the person standing close by, that is the one you're talking to privately, can see them. If emotes would be made public then I would like to see the emotes replacing the you see X talking to Y, or at least if there's both emote and whispered part, there would be something like "X is talking to Y silently. He frowns and shakes his head." And this would be complicated.

When did I complain?
I suggested he does as another veteran player does.
Still don't understand what this has to do with any suggestions...
Reality was never my strong point.

I believe the starter was suggesting some sort of a code that converts ** pieces into public text or a rule against playing in private? The latter one would suck because in real life you can go away from the town square or the road to the wilds if you want some privacy. Thus making everything visible would only be realistic after free roaming gets implemented.

To be perfectly honest I think there are far, far bigger problems in Cantr than whether people use actions in whispers.
Now, I admit that quite a few of my characters have had... intimate moments. But I do try and limit these to when I am inside. Or on a path. WHatever, the point is that sex is a part of Cantr, and I prefer it is not done in whispers. Rather it should be done outloud, in private.
Please, please do not introduce a rule over this. Some things should just be left be, and this is one of those things.

I don't think that was suggested here, and that's a bad idea...if for no other reason than that it can be spoofed.
Your arguement is no good, though. There is nowhere in the main area of town where every game-supported action that people can see is not visible to everyone. So anything you could do that's as visible as putting down an object, or even whispering to a person, should be publicly visible. If you don't want it seen, go somewhere where no one will see.
I never, or at least almost never, so much as smile in a whisper. I'd much rather if no one did, because it just doesn't make sense that you're gesturing wildly, shooting glances all over, and approaching a apoplexy with only one person capable of knowing. Let alone some of the more visible things people apparantly whisper from time to time...
Also, Peter's initial example seems more than enough reason to me. RP that puts the game in an inconsistant state shouldn't be allowed to happen.

With current programming, you can still walk "into the wilds". Go on a path, and stop.

There are no seedy allyways in cantr towns where you can do...whatever it is you're doing...out of sight. I mean, every time you slip someone a gram of potatoes, anyone in town can tell, unless you actually go into a building.

I just don't see what the problem is. If you can't see it, then how does it hurt you?
As for the hitting people thing, heres how I feel on the subject.
If someone says *hits you* as opposed to actually doing you physical harm, I assume they are playing around. I've play punched my friends before. And no one gets hurt. I think thats what the person was trying to accomplish.

I don't think it's something the programmers or rules should ever regulate, but I wish some players would use common sense and regulate themselves.
Well, it hurts the game for the player who does see it, just like when you're subjected to any other crappy RP.
