This, in my opinion, is a blatant rules breach. It is exploiting a flaw in programming to your own advantage, and the detriment of others.

And it really doesn't surprise me that the Barons are exploiting it.

It's funny, because I said nothing of the sort.

You may be right about the one-time calculation...I heard that once, at least. In which case the trick won't do a thing.

Here's a question...assuming it is considered abuse (which would make sense, I'd just note that no one who can say so officially has yet). What should the solution be (to the program flaw, that is)? Free handoffs on roads, or none at all? Either would be better...but any kind of handoffs would allow this trick to be used, thougha bit less successfully. No handoffs is clean, though a bit sad...(I really hoped to transfer items that way, for some nefarious purposes )

Adding in a dropping ability on roads is no good, since (as I understand it) we have no way for items to actually be on roads...whatever you dropped would have to go to an end of the road, which would make for feasable super-fast information transfer.

I remember the quote he's talking about.
You did say it.

edit: but I don't think you were being serious when you said it. Just being Anthony.

Then find it, and prove it.

[Edit]:

Hey, look what I've found.

nitefyre wrote:If you are on a vehicle travelling, you can pass stuff when you are moving. It works, because you can be more manueverable on the road- pull up to people- then get back on track, from a sensical standpoint. Of course, I'm sure there's a more technical reason..for why it is still like that.

If this gives anything away, please delete the post.

I was about to say, I didn't think it was Anthony - but I agree with nitefyre, I'd much rather explain away glitches, and make them usable than try to outrule them, unless more people are prepared to volunteer to follow up all accusations of it happening?

My bad Anthony. I don't know why I thought it was you.

And I'll play nice and not use it. I thought it was fair game.

Well not quite yet. I'd love to know why it was wrong, and I personally think Nite's explanation was very good. Besides, you can't give it back to me when I drive off.

No, Nitefyre's explanation was stupid. If you're already headed at 100% speed and you're behind me, how would you catch up?

Cause... now this is only general assumption, but a guy running on foot.... could be caught up with... if I were to go as fast as I could in my sports car? Even a bike can go faster then a man on foot can. Even olympic runners can be caught up to on bikes.

Perhaps I didn't make it clear. Since it's just the two of your arguing, take it to PMs. The Support forum is not for discussion.

Well actually, you were arguing with him as well.
And with this comment, I've now argued with you. That's three times the ammount of initial arguments.
Topic split and move to General Discussion, would be most appropriate methinks.

That last post sounded more like a moderation request than general discussion, now it'll have to be a double topic split and lock the original...:P

Moved it, so I don't have to feel bad about replying ;) ... There wasn't really a support request, anyway.

I think it's correct that speed is calculated at the start of the road, so there is no effect anyway.

Yo-Yo, abusing bugs is long considered a breach of the rules and the fact that car drivers can hand things to walkers but not vice versa is clearly a bug. You should report the bug to flyspray, not abuse it for your own advantage.

I'd say you should be able to hand people goods on roads just the same way as in a town. I don't see any reason why not. If it is then 'abused' for fighting/chasing reasons like this it is not abusing a bug anymore, but just making tactical use of something you can do in the game.

I think that would actually be the best solution. Well, in addition to what I just said. But dropping goods on roads should become possible and I have wanted this for a long time. I was actually thinking about this this morning. The idea would be to include that in one of the steps of the roadmap. I am currently working on individualisation of animals, which will take a while, and then putting objects on random locations, including on roads, would be a possible next addition. But I don't know yet in what order I will implement what, and things go very slow :) ...
