Where's the FAQ, then?
Forum, isn't it?

Should be accessible from in-game.

Exactly. So calm down, West. The fact that the map is tilted is a MUST KNOW thing for everyone. We can't hide it, because then people would be like "WTF?! LOLZ!11!one!! I IZ GOIN SIDEWAYZ!! BUGGGG!!!" then someone else would be like "n00b, iz sp0st 2 b >wayz!"

Oh god.

[Edit]: Also, it will be accessable in game, if you notice Flyspray's #1 priority: Get FAQ into Cantr game! Whew!

I don't see the problem about "find out in game" If someone wishes, you ought to, just like in real life, teach your "kids" all you know. Maybe we should build schools "in game" like in real life. Or have a "handbook for life". In game.
Not that good.

the idea of learning it all in game is ridiculous. This is a game, not meant to be stressfully difficult, not meant to particular force you to LEARN things as you go as if you're a baby. Certain things are told for a purpose, without giving people a level starting ground it is ridiculously hard, and West is right that we lose newspawns because it's a "learn in game" tagline. I'm glad some things are told though, there are still others that will probably come to light and that would be better.

For this particular point...
"I'm going to navagate my ship at 0 degrees, so I can see what direction that is!"

Riiight...that makes sense...

It would be all the more funnier, if they started in the middle of the ocean, with blue all around them. They'd have no idea where they're going...
