Forget the names. I voted no yesterday under the assumption that there were no signs, but with signs I'd say yes.

As long as there are signs, and they should replace the name of the building if there is a sign (but it should still be changeable - the sign should just be the default display), it's all good. No sign = "a stone building."

It's still less of a hassle than the switch from where you could see every character's name to dynamic naming. There aren't enough buildings for this to be a big time-consuming problem on the players' parts.

As for established characters remembering the names: how many buildings do most characters use / care about? Not many, in most cases. Would you remember the names of those buildings you never notice? And it makes no sense for already existing characters to be magically able to know the name of every building, unless you mean only in their current location. That would make a bit more sense, but not everyone stays in their hometown where they know most of the buildings. (Does that make sense?)

That's the implied compromise I, as a no-voter, would be open to.

Though I'd reserve the right to criticize it if it doesn't work out

But as for your argument that you'd only remember your own hometown, many of my characters have several places they travel to often...or more than one place they call home. ANd to have them forget it would unreasonable.

Still, I'm keeping my no vote as long as there is no 'signs' implementation.

My suggestion is that all current names carryover as signs. And have some 'project' that can make you change the sign. Of course, whatever is on the sign should be default, as made evident before.

There's one other factor I'd like to mention, even emphasize.

I think the routes should show compass direction--like you get when travelling--added to the exits on the location page, and also added to the improvement entries on the activities page.

Those compass directions, plus availability of building signs, plus ideally (but not necessarily) some kind of street address or other geographic positioning of buildings, should all be in place some decent time before general amnesia is implemented.

Yes, subject to those provisions, my No vote could become a Yes vote.

I've always thought that should be implemented, regardless of this new feature.

I don't think there was ever any doubt whatsoever that there would be signs.

Now, signs changing the default dynamic name, I think I can live with that, certainly.

So, we have a parameter such as <BUILDINGNAME> that we can use to get the default name up (either as a sign or just by looking)

I'd actually like to be able to see the type (stone/wood/etc) and size (hall/extension/buildings etc) regardless of the name, so perhaps another perameter?

I don't think either of you have explained why you object?

How can we improve or reach an agreeable solution if you daon't say what you don't like about it?
