Easier just to put the name of the key into your dynamic name of the building or room it goes to. Or keep a note.

Well actually that wouldnt be "easier", it's just the best thing for now.

And that process is called "boomering", so don't take credit.

I'm well aware of the origins of that process, oompa loompa.
I just thought if I said "easier just to Boomer your buildings to match your keys" people would look at me like I'm the evil twin of some well-known forum grump.

We should be able to Jur our keys, but Boomering the buildings is almost as good and requires no work on Jos' part...

I'm glad there has been a few more 'No' votes, they were close last night.

You've never actually said why you don't like it though, could you explain? (I've had a look over the 14 pages of posts on this topic, across the two threads, couldn't find a post explaining if there is one)

That will do. This thread has stayed on topic this far, don't ruin it, let alone degenerate into flaming..

Solfius is quite right. Any more from you two on this issue, and I'll have to moderate...

Anyway, can those against say what is wrong with my suggestion? Or how nameplates wouldn't negate most of the negatives? I genuinelly want to know...

With signs now in place, I think amnesia might work...but give us time to make signs of where we are!

I'm still not sure how bad you all think this will be.

ok, so you forget all the buildings except for the location you're in currently.

That means when you go somewhere new you need to find the building you want, and ask the name of the place.

So you ask, you find out where you are, and which building you are trying to find, and that's it done, one off name change, just like character naming.

So, my question is what is so bad about that?

In large towns, that's all people would be doing, is naming buildings for visitors and people who have been out of town. It's bad enough with the pointing and naming of people. Would newspawns know the names of buildings? If not, then you'll find my chars hiding inside to avoid the constant naming that'll be going on.

I've never experienced any problem with lots of naming. If someone introduces themself I add their name, if not I leave it unless I want to know it.

However, unlike people, buildings will have signs, which people can read to find out the name, which I think satisfies your concern as there would be no need to continuosly name and point.

Drop a note in your building with it's title.
Easy.

@ Nick, and have a note thief steal it every several days? No thanks.

@Solfius, and to copy and paste all those titles onto how you know the buildings? Some towns have upwards of 40 buildings!

It's already a pain in the arse naming chars...but buildings, locations, etc, too? I made this point clear before, and it is valid.
