Did that makes any sense?

Not really. You mean blank out everything, but automatically name all the places they go as they go there? I guess that sort of makes sense... maybe... seems like it defeats the purpose mostly though.

Anyway, I vote yes. Or voted yes earlier and didn't post. No difference either way.

Out of curiousity, how much effect do these polls really have on what happens?

No, like remember all the places before the amnesia thing.

And I voted yes, I don't think that there's too much of a point without amnesia. Most of my reasoning has been stated already.

Since Jos himself created the poll, he does really want your opinions. Would he have bothered if it wasn't likely to have some affect?

Why does cantr not allow the deletion of notes? Because it preserves the culture through notes. How will you preserve existing structures and knowledges? You're ruining history and the TONS of hours of map work players have done! With new islands (or new characters who don't know), sure, do what you want. But current places have current values and current perceptions, that should not be changed!

Actually notes will be destroyed as soon as Resources get the programming for it. Culture should be preserved by the cultures in Cantr not outside OOC intervention.

I voted yes. They did that when made dynamic naming for people and it worked out fine.

Making everything dynamic to the amnesiatic level would be a wasted effort for everyone. Not only will I have to c/p names but now for buildings, locations, etc? No thanks. I play for FUN!

Not work and labor. And I shouldn't want to put staff through it, either.

As did I. Same reason.

Side note: In the more remote areas of cantr there are unfinished burial projects from BEFORE dynamic naming...your char will encounter half-buried corpses they "know". Definitely threw me off.

Hey, you mind as well reset everything to the beginning of time. That's what you all want, isn't it? A clean slate? A tabula rasa? I've yet to see a viable alternative that would work to compromise for our character's forgetting everything, undoing decades of work my cartographers, etc.

This change today was fine, leave it as it is now, I'm fine with new islands being like that...since they aren't developed. Oh and please change the hyperlink fonts to (bold/underline) white.

I like it now, how it is.

What about characters that spawn after this change?

Nitefyre, when you think about it, your maps are no less accurate: They still show the geographic location of the cities that are there, and the resources. Only thing that changes is the name, and really, how many places are going to change their names totally?

I think i'll be interesting when people start getting places with their "old maps" and come into town thinking it's, say, Kiii, only to find out that "Oh, that's the old name. We are now known as Old New New Old Spice Bay."

I know that's just an example but you should know of course Kiii's gonna be called Reformatory for Naughty Boys when Jaina gets home...

Yes I have no problem with new islands, vehicles, buildings, etc being dynamic, but not already existing ones. You can't just use the "ones that are on your location" philosophy because not everyone is currently on the location that is their home town. People make resource runs, etc and it would suck to coe back and not know anything. I suggest that everyone knows what's already in the game no matter where it is and that only new things are made to be unknown. However I would like to know how things were handled with dynamic naming. Did you use amnesia or did you make it so everyone knew who all the characters who were already in the game and only the newer characters come in as "a man in his twenties/a women in her twenties"?

I voted yes but I actually feel 50/50. It makes me sad to think that the houses my old chars built won't have their names on them anymore. On the other hand I think it's more realistic to enter a new town and not know the names of the buildings or even the town, necessarily.

And I'd like to see a lot of towns rename themselves, especially all those n/s/e/w forests and hills and deserts and mountains. They drive me crazy and should have more interesting names. Major shake-ups happen in societies all the time and people have to deal. Same with Cantr (even though we complain a lot).
