Dynamic Naming
Okies I know I've seen this in my locations but I want to run a poll on it to see how many peolpe are for and against this.
Somehow you strayed and lost your way,
and now there'll be no time to play,
no time for joy,
no time for friends
- not even time to make amends.
You are too naïve if you do believe life is innocent laughter and fun.

I think dynamic names for everything could only help the game, but I think that there should be defaults which would be the current names. Otherwise you travel somewhere and see "1 animal" and you wouldn't know it was a bear until it swatted you one good, and even then you wouldn't be sure just what it was. The same goes for locations and especially buildings. I think they need default names just so you have some reference.

Default names yes like "a cottage", "a building", "a hall" or "a lighthouse". Also default names for roads like "a road".

i don't think that the buildings need to be nameless to start. i always thought that the building name implied a sign. i do however support being able to change what this name appears to you as, but i think it could start as the given name.
the same i think should go for locations. Jos's given name should be the default. This may not parallel RL, but it would make things very difficult if the lcoations started as "a location". i don't know about anyone else, but currently i rarely pay attention to direction, just the connections between places. this would be meaningless without default place names. all the maps would have to be completely revamped.

NO I feel everyone should be a little confused about things you should have to ask those around you what things are to start off like what town is this and what roads are those. What resources are those. What/whose cottage is that or what is the name of that building so on and so forth. Default names would be great it would add a new flavor to the game with very little change. Defaults would be like such:
"a cottage"
"a building"
"a bike"
"a road north"
"a field"
"a mountain side"
"a forest"
"a hammer"
then give the ability to rename things i e "a man in his twenties"
thats mark point out man in his twenties
rename you see mark
like it is now only now you have to do it with everything
I think a lot of things would change for the better and a lot would stay the same.

except that every time someone was spawned, there would be a whole lot of pointing and naming going on or else a lot of people who didn't know whatanything was..
With all that going on, though, it'd be difficult to actually play the game, since the main focus would always be showing people around.

Or people can actually role play and not ask what is everyone's name without a reason to know it or ask the names of buildings without having to know them etc...
My characters only know the names of people he NEEDS to know or think he needs know. My characters never give their names unless they think that the person asking needs to know or asks them specifically. The same could be done with buildings.
Perhaps buildings could be named when being built by a character and that would be the dynamic name that that character will know it by when it is done being built. If a character wants to build a sign onto a building so that a people can look at a building and see that there is a sign that says something.
so you could see;
A small building made out of stone
A large building made out of wood; sign on building says, "Town Hall"
Siom Sheriff Department
Storage Building; sign on building says, "Storage Room"
Steve's Home; sign on building says, "1 Siom Circle Lane"
Then you can click on the dynamic name and see the physical look of the building like a person. For example, you click on "Siom Sheriff Department" which you dynamically named and you would get "A large building made out of wood and stone".
I think for animals you would get a description of the animal, like a bear would be a "large, furry, humanoid creature with claws and big teeth". Then a person can name the animal whatever they like. All animals should be seperate so no "3 bear' thing. Instead you would see;
"Bear
Bear
Bear"
And you should be able to attack EACH animal once every day and each animal, if it is their nature, can attack once daily. And make more options for animals! Also, add bad effects for overpopulations of animals as well as bad effects for small populations of animals and make good effects for a good number of animals.

I voted NO. Why? Well, i agree with the buildings and such. But imagine. You need to go somewhere. A nice person gives you a map. Take the knarft road to knarft forest east. You look around. and dont see any knarft road. So youy ask someone. "knarft"?n Oh, you want to go to "mestbelt"? WEll, you take that road. You see a man in his twenties point to a road. Thats Rheeza's road. And the place it leads to is Neocron. Well, WE call it neocron. Back in what we call "Joe's town" (they call it "uptown" but we think thats ridicoulous) they call it "bent". I'm from what we call "holsten West" some say......
Get the point? CONFUSION!!!!!

Well, if your whole argument is about characters being confused then I don't agree. Like in real life, you could actually get lost and people and societies would have to work that out in game. Things like this happen in real life and so why can't they happen in Cantr life? It'll add more drama to the game and in my opinion more fun. People will have to discover the world around them.
