This change seems a little odd... clearly every building/vehicle has a nameplate of some kind already. Is there a burning need to remove those nameplates? Being able to replace them would be very useful, but having no namplates at all would be terrible. Perhaps implement nameplates but make them deteriorate like items?

the links are our memory, but if we start with a blank memory, we need nameplates to easily identify buildings and add them to our memory

I think it's alright as it is now. I mean I have a character who would find it quite handy, he'll be labelling a certain location 'never go here again.' But if everything was blank first time you saw it, once the owner dies no one would be able to tell you what the name was. Meaning no famous buildings or boats, and I like seing boat names I recognise and stuff like that.

That's an interesting point... Maybe if there are two entries, one of which is a nameplate (the current name) and one is what you know it as. The nameplate name can only be changed by building a new one... that might address the amnesia issue.

Umm. Well first off. HELL YEAH . Mass chaos and amnesia sounds like fun. Lets do it. Forget what everyone else thinks. You guys don't seem to understands. The maps are still good at some degree. Places can change their name IRL and those maps will be outdated. The same happens when the RD (resources department for those of you that do not know) adds new resouces/takes away from a location. Maps become outdated. That is where the explorers get to have fun. They follow a map to a place and to find out that the name has been changed. Its not that big a deal people. One of my leader characters is about to start telling people new names for some things. This will make things more fun for us emporer players. Lad...please. The Alexian Empire sounds better. So now they cn change the place name to Alexia. I have a D'Haran Empire starting to grow. So now I can change the town name to D'Hara. :P

If you saw the spear of jesus, you would just think it's a spear unless someone told you it was the spear of jesus.

Yes, but if you saw a building that said "CITIBANK" on it, you would think it was...

I voted no until one can make and tear down signs for roads, towns, and buildings. And it would be like Free Land in the West when folks notice the owner isnt reclaiming their home, which will be hectic. But it will be good to see the end of the Dragonball Z references all over Cantr...

My reccomendation:

If possible take the commonly known name of each town/vehicle and such and "copy" it to every characters "memory" of what the names are - then blank the names for people who don't know it.

We all retain our memory of what the items are called but new characters will need to learn.

Nah, I don't like that idea.

Because then when you go to towns you've never been to, you'll still recognize things you really shouldnt.

I'd like to see this idea implemented, except you'd only remember the things in the town you're currently in.

A middle-ground route, though extra work, could be to record, from now-ish, where characters go to, and then let them remember the names of those places only...

Did that makes any sense?

Like... every character send in something that says where each person has been to, and so that they remember all of those locations?

Did I get that right?
