Dynamic Naming

Postby Surly » Mon Apr 25, 2005 4:28 pm

Is this for real? It rocks if it is...

Was it just implemented, or am I really slow? :?

Right now, right now! Arrrrgh! Cool, I guess... But did you notice that roads have no names when you're on the character page, only when looking at the listings?

A problem probably the result of this: http://www.cantr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4696

edit: Good work by the way. This will hopefully be fun. I'm hoping for more dynamic naming.

I've contacted Jos directly about that... Though he didn't respond. (I was tlaking to him at the time...)

Flyspray it, as normal.

The content of my previous post elsewhere...

I've got to wonder how much difference it makes, since it seems that everything, even things you haven't seen before, come with their original names...and (assuming the renaming is personal) no one will see if you change it...

Or maybe this is just a first draft I'm seeing?

And one point...if you take away the built-in consensus names at some point...mapmakers are going to have an interesting time of it. Will they have to number the roads?

My personal guess is that it's working towards the map-based ideas. I could easily be wrong.

You would have to ask in each village what the name of the village is. The same goes for the roads.

The cool part of this is that you can name towns and roads after important, well-known people, for example the founder of the village.
