Well there is nothing I can do for Surly. Especially without the proper equipment. I can't get the neccessary tools until the quarenteen on the town is lifted.
Mr. Floyd, I would greatly like to take a look at your arm. You know Modern Medicine has improved so much over the past few years I may be able to help you.

As I've said AoM. You would be amazed at the miracles of modern medicine. I believe given the right tools and time I could build Mr. Floyd a new arm. It may not have the functionality that his old arm did, but it would I believe at the least it would make his job in the factory easier. What do you say MR. Floyd. Allow me to take a look at that arm?

He listens to the surgeon's commentary with a skeptical expression etched on his face.
You mean to tell me Dr. Swymir that you can make a brand new arm using tools? I have never heard of such a thing. I find that rather hard to believe. But then again, I am just a banker and know little of the ways of science. What kind of tools would you need for that? I would imagine pretty fancy equipment would be required -- much fancier than the knives you seemed to have misplaced yesterday. Have you managed to find your knives yet, Doctor? I could provide you with a loan to obtain new ones if need be. It's unfortunate for such important surgical tools to have gone missing with the horrible stabbings occurring.

Miss Mortaine, having sat quietly on the curb to pray for Mr. Surly's salvation, looks up at Dee when she hears her name spoken. She finishes the prayer, looks up to the sky, and whispers "amen" before rising.
"My dear, I think you and I should leave things to the proper investigatory authorities. After all, Mr. Spider is fully capable of dealing with these things, far more than us of the fairer sex. It does no one any good to have a couple of women meddling about in affairs of criminal investigation.
"However, I understand you were interested in Mr. Surly's intellectual pursuits. If you wish, I have a fairly decent collection of the more elementary texts in egyptology available in my shop. I've been keeping intermittent hours, with the recent troubles and quarantine, but if you would care to come by my shop after breakfast, I can suggest a few good texts to start out.
"And Sherrif Spider, if you wish, I can also give you the records of Mr. Surly's most recent purchases from my store. I know he also purchased from other booksellers" her lips tighten with professional jealousy, "but he was a regular customer of mine. If anything in my records can help you find his killer, I am, as always, eager to assist. Come by after breakfast as well-- That will give me time to retrieve my ledgers and compile the information for you."
She looks up at the bank building up the street and notes the time. "Well, and if I'm going to be able to do that in time, I'd best be off. I know no one much feels like eating right now, but one must keep up one's strength, especially in times of adversity, you know. If nothing else, you should all get a bite to eat and a break from all this blood and death. As tragic as this is, we must remember to live, and not succumb to depression and melancholy." She nods to the individuals gathered in the street. "Good day-- I expect I'll be seeing all of you later on."
She primly walks off down the street towards her shop, her long skirts trailing a bit in the muddy street, the hem already damp and ragged with mud.

"Oh yes it is definitly possible although the surgery required is risky and as I said I would need some better equipment, but it can be done..."
"Mr. Witchita, I am still on the look out for my knives, but I am beginning to lose hope of ever finding them. Someone must have taken them, but what would anyone want to do with a set of surgical knives? I appreciate your offering of a loan, but these knives were special to me. Custom made in fact. I don't think any other set would do and with the quarenteen I don't even know where I could find a pair to buy."
