Alex enters the town square just in time to see Mikki walking away for her interview with the sheriff. He smiles at her and gives her a wave. Then he proceeds to walk past the inn where everyone had gathered and walks up to the town gate, where the guards promptly block his path.
After a brief discussion, Alex hands one of the guards a small package and a letter, which are transferred through to the other side of the gate. Tipping his cap to the guard, he walks back to the in and takes a seat at one of the outside tables.

waking with a start he looks around for his cane seeing it in front of him he smiles grabs it in his hand and then stands up
Ah the good sheriff is awake. I hope you had a nice trip to the factory. And as for the way I act Ms. Mikki. That is no concern to a commoner.
I would never kill another man though in cold blood that is a fact.

Smiles playfully and chuckles
Ah. Innkeeper humour. I am afraid I shall never understand it to its fullest extent Mr. Nixit. Are you still able to maintain your kitchen during the lockdown? I believe I could use a bite to eat for my evening meal.

reaches into his coat and pulls out a small leather bag and then tosses it to Nixit
Try that kind. I got it from China. They call it green tea. Although I think they must have some type of color distinguishing problem as that green tea is orange in hue. But it is good nonetheless.

I belief a nice plate of bangers and mash would be in order for the day, if you can spare the meat, Mr. Nixit. I believe a nice pint of stout would wash it down quite nicely. Smiles warmly as he dreams of the meal
I do believe I could pop in for a cup of tea now, though. I have been staring at paperwork and counting change all day. Nothing fancy for me, mind you. Just a simple cup of Earl Grey will suffice...no offense to your ecclectic tastes Mr. Dragonslayer...I am just a simple man at heart myself. He smiles warmly at the man

No, Mr. Wichita... I am neither a member of the postal service nor am I in Mr. Slayer's private employ.
That was a package of raw clothe destined for one of my customers in London, along with a letter of explanation of this unfortunate event and my assurances that I will try to maintain my deliveries as best I can through the royal guard.
It'll cost me far more than normal this way, but my business can't afford to lose customers. There are far too many competing staplers in the city, so my means of living comes from letting the tailors and weavers know that I'm a dependable supplier...
I'm sure you can understand the necessity of a good reputation in the business world, Mr. Wichita...
