Well in all this fun you'll have to count me out. I have had nothing but bad luck with boats in Cantr. I vowed way back before I quit to never ever ride on a boat willingly again. And so far I've held up to that.

Damn boats!

YoYo, you should play boats in character... if one character had bad experiences with boats, that does NOT affect what the others do! Else it's a CRB, albeit a relatively minor one.

Peanut, I'm assuming you mean the island I found by putting random numbers into the boat field.
The complete population being my character and a tree she calls Bill.

The sooner we get animals on that island the better.

Watch what you ask for! *ducks another animal on Aki*

But I dunno if it's due to our hunting, but the animals seem somewhat tamer.

Hmmmm, boating as always been a thorn in my side.

Crag built a boat and went out into the lake when boating first was introduced. He undocked only to find that docking had not been implemented or was bugged. Crag floated on the lake while the staff worked to fix the bug.

Mack Rogue (no one knows him) spent his entire life on a boat sailing from Siom in a darter. He had to be sailing over a real life year without seeing land. He finally started to run out of food and found land. He circled a large land mass without finding one city to dock in. Finally he died of starvation.

Willy loaded most his precious metals and weapons into a boat and set sail to explore the world around his tiny island. The boat was boarded by a longboat, the man stole a lot of things and undocked. Willy undocked as well to take chase. He lost the trail of the thief and he couldnt find the boat he left. Now he is int he middle of the blue see searching for his old home.

The only one of my characters that has had any luck with boating is Gator who sailed to Lad, peeked out, read the laws, and ran back to his boat... sailing away before he was forced to join their workforce.

I've generally had good experiences with boating...I have a character who has a raker and a darter (and gave away a longboat) and has circumnavigated his home island...

...a character who has sailed completely around two smaller islands, and has had three boats in his life...

...a character who owns a soarer and sails it around occasionally...

...a character who owns a galleon and some smaller boats, and is planning a great voyage...

...my one bad experience with a boat (besides getting lost a couple times) was when I was on an overloaded longboat from Dory that got lost at sea for five or six cantr years...we finally landed in Longinazy, went off to find wood, and was captured and killed >_<

I really think things should be changed so that you can board a moving boat. When is a boat ever not moving?

You can board a moving boat. I've done it. There are implications of some trick on this thread...but basically my experience was you have to manage to board before your ship automatically stops moving.

Of course, now that the vehicle shield effect is gone boarding actions are going to be a lot more even. If you want to fight for a ship, you actually have to bring enough power to overwhelm the crew.

The English world is getting smaller...

I haven't much experience with other language groups

Yeah, golden age of Seafaring that's true... but other than the english kontinents the german area is getting bigger, because some very brave characters ( :D ) are just trying to build up a new outpost on a new landmass they discovered.. (even if some don't now who REALLY was there first... frustrating :( )

just wanted to say...
Erik ist nicht fnord.
fnord ist Erik.

Dieser Satz ist Falsch.

A ist vor B, B is vor C, C ist vor A.

In hind sight, my charrie wouldn't mind having the darter, considering how slow his longboat is.

A real shame  , but I suppose good will goes a long way. In the sense that my character leads a happy life.

And then there is me...I had a charrie with a boat...who couldn't seem to find a way to NOT keep docking at the same place.

Yah, when it comes to boats, I suck. Let's hope I'm never expected to Captain one. I have one charrie who might be....NOT a good thing. I'll probably get everyone lost for decades.

That's great! Thanks for sharing this.

I believe the Esperanto area will soon intensify its seafaring efforts, as it reached the level where animals no longer present a threat.
Besides, they seem to be missing some very important resources.
