A thought came to me one night whilst I was watching god awfull late night television.

American guns are getting us all killed.

Canada does not have a lenient gun laws at all. To get a conventional nine millimetre handgun and some bullets, you need to have a reason, plus a good record and a shitload of money.

But if this is the case, why are all these kids running around with guns? Why is this happening? It does not make any sense. These are the guys who should not have guns at all, and yet there armed to the teeth, always walking around with pistols and taking each other out just for a little bit more of the market.

How could this be happening?

But it's so very obvious! Were getting guns from the yankees!

Seeing as the guns these kids have, under the circumstances, are very illegal, there is, of course, money to be made.

See, these guys are always fighting, and I'm no exception, to get them, and or there people, a bigger piece of the market, always, constant fighting.

And so, obviously, you want to win. One way to do that is to have a better weapon. What can beat a piece of chain, and crowbar or a knife hands down? Well, of course, a gun.

And so one guy gets a gun. To win, all the other guys decide they cannot be outgunned, and so they too try to get guns.

And so soon, there is a massive demand for guns, and some good enterprising entrepeneurs (in most cases, our friends, the Hell's Angels) decided to capitalise on this lucky situation.

Seeing as there is a big demand for guns, but no legal sellers to satisfy this demand, people are willing to pay astranomical prices for the safety of a piece.

And so the angels take a drive down to america, where handguns are cheap and roam free, and load up on all kinds of guns and ammunition.

The guys selling them those guns are happy. The know where there going, they know what the guns are to be used for, but they don't care, there making money!

And so up across the border goes the guns, and the guns are sold happily to the violent streeters, allowing them to kill each other with beautifull efficency, and thousands and thousands of dollars (obrained from the profitable drug bussiness which our gun buying friends are fighting over) go to our friends the Hell's Angels, them being a nationwide crime sindycat, allowing them to do ever more things, and live in luxury.

Just fucking beautifull.

When Canada tries to legalize weed, which would do so many things (save us thousands of dollars worth of goverment money spent on policing, imprisonment, and stop the flow of money from the weed bussiness going into the hands of crime organizations) despite public opnion, we cannot do so anyway, as the United States would do most terrible things to the border, ripping our economy to shreds, because there would be the chance of more of a product illegal there going into there country.

Fair enough.

But there godamn guns are illegal here. But do you see them do anything? Why do we have to do our best so that things illegal in america stay out of america (i.e. keeping weed illegal.) when they do not do anything to stop yankee guns coming up here.

Just a thought.

Now, I am no pot head. I think weed smokers are jackasses, really. But that's not the point. It doesn't matter that I think that. This is a debate about unfairness an hypocrisy.

I am always open for CIVIL debate of my opnions.

There a crime gangs and drug rackets all across the country that almost all of the income comes from pot export to the United States. Competition among these groups, espicially when in close proximaty to each other, for the american market, it fierce, to say the least.)

I resent that you say you do everything to keep weed out of our country. lol (As much as I don't mind it coming across the boarder,) there's also been a piece here on how easy it is to get it across the boarder. It even showed how the boarder patrols turn a blinde eye to it because its often how some of you canadian folk survive.

As far as Im concerned there may as well not even be a boarder if you really want an end to all of the above. But that isn't going to happen, so this is what happens and there is no stopping it. I don't look for it to change, I don't look for an increase in patrol to make an impact either. On either side. There's human error. It's just like this airport security bullshit. People find ways around a system. They always will. People to protect often miss things they shouldn't IE sleep on the job. It's like when we come through the gate here on base we're supposed to get our Military ID's checked to insure non-military arent' coming through without proper courting, yet on several occasions my husband and I had driven right through the gate without so much as a funny look when we didn't have our post decals.

While I feel like I ought to throttle the next person to ask me to take off my shoes in the airport or my daughters for that matter, or the fact that they now only allow 2 lighters per a person--(which I had to give up six lighters that I was to give to my husband as they had his family's business printed on them,) I know I could get them all through the gates if I wanted to badly enough. Just recently a friend took a flight home and proposed he should empty an asprin bottle and put E in the bottom of it, covering it up again with asprin. Whens the last time you had someone on airport security open a pill bottle and give it a shake?

It don't matter if you put CIA, FBI, Border patrol or military ANYWHERE, because they're human.

We could crack down on our guns harder and you could crack down on your weed harder, but there's nothing to prevent human error or corrupt individuals. We could legalize it all, but that wouldn't stop people from killing each other anymore than keeping it illegal does. (I wouldn't think..)

I had a longer message here but since my computer got all screwy I need to rewrite the whole thing so I'll be brief in this.

Guns provide the people the power to oppose their government especially when it becomes corrupt and no longer acts in the will of the people. Guns provide personal defense against others who might do you harm. Face it, the police can't be everywhere and cameras aren't going to intervene and stop someone from hurting, raping or even killing you. As well as only the law abiding citizens will be the only ones who will suffer becuase criminals will still find ways of getting guns. Guns provide personal defense for people in the wilderness from attacks from wild animals. Guns provide food for people in many areas as well as could be extremely helpful in a survival situation should you ever have to stay in the wild for a long period of time. Guns can provide personal defense and determint against people who wish to do harm or steal private property.

A gun is just a tool. It can be used for both good things and evil. If you make it illegal then guns will only be used for evil and only the good will suffer from this.

As far as I can tell the only people to ever try to invade Canada besides the British (which Americans sided with against the French; look up French and Indian War) who took it over were us Americans (see attempts during both American Revolution and War of 1812). Unless there is some sort of secret history I don't know of.

I guess you could argue since America is seen as the world power today and there are a lot of groups opposing that power (ie. terrorists, dictatorships, etc...) that America naturally diverts attention to itself thus keeping people from really caring about harming other nations. But that is far fetched and could be interpreted for any number of nations so it is really pointless to argue it anyways.

When will people finally realize that the true source of most of the world's social problems is ignorance and pride? I know it's cliche, but the phrase "guns don't kill people, people kill people" is 100% true. Please don't blame the hardware if a minority of people using it decide to behave badly. Besides, guns are not nearly as destructive as the rantings of a blithering idiot. I mean the media is full of 'em and look at how much damage they cause. Second, I don't care about your weed habit, or how you don't like airport security. I don't like it either. I'm with you there.
