Land Bridge!

Postby Yo_Yo » Fri Apr 15, 2005 6:29 pm

Okay... now I was thinking of a huge project that would span the whole of Cantr and be remembered for the rest of time. What if we made a bridge extending from one continient to the other? It wouldn't be that hard providing we had alot of wood and time. And when you crossed it, it was like a traveling trip. I don't trust boats one bit... so this would be a safe and easy way to get me over to the other island. Again, thought it up at something like... 3 in the morning while at work.

Aw common. Its not that much of an absurd Idea. Then again I've never seen how far apart they are. The islands that is. Without giving too much info, how far Rev?

At least days of fast sailing. You'd never be able to do that with a wood bridge...I don't know if you could with steel.

RL aside, how do you decide where it's ends will go?

No idea. Never traveled between them. And only a few people ever see the world maps.

Erm.. didn't think that far ahead. Honestly I thought I was going to be called an idiot and shunned by now. And as for a steel bridge... way to make it unwanted. And as for wood being able to be used... I think it should. Or maybe stone. No one ever said how deep the water is.

Wood pier vs deterioration = rubble. Steel it or boat it.

Better still if we could make lockable cabins on boats, so only the key holder could use the controls. Pasengers would be trusted to board boats and proper ferying would come more common place. Far better for the game than just a bridge.

Seconded. This needs to be implemented.

And machines on boats. So you could work on a project while sailing. Like prison galleys....

I think they withdrew that ability for all machines.

Now only a few machines can be built. Small ones.

From what I have seen of the world map, this won't be possible.

Well, in real life, such a thing wouldn't be possible.

Bridges like that would be destroyed by water and high sea storms during construction, let alone after completion.

But it would be fucking cool, I admit!

Think about it! Gangs of bandits roaming the vast bridge (I suppose it would have to be devided into a few parts for that, or something) or mad kings fighting for control of them!

Damn that would be cool.
