When the possibility is opened- I suggest that these double handed swords (i.e. claymore/katana) actually be used with both hands...I mean...without the ability to use the iron shield, or something. *shrugs*

(if this has been suggested before, nevermind it)

It's undoubtably come up before...the (theoretical) problem is: Would that mean that if you had one of these things in your inventory, you couldn't use a shield? Because there's no way to say whether you're wielding the sword or just carrying it.

Maybe there should be a Wield weapon project.

That would last a day before you could use a weapon?
Same could apply to shields.

Would help a bit against hit and run thiefs

It usually takes me a day to pick up something and put down something else, in real life.

Just to, you know, mentally prepare myself for the intellectual challenge of carrying a sword and no shield, adjust my grip, make sure I've flexed my fingers enough, warmed up my joints so I don't strain something. Polish my shield so it doesn't rust and fall apart while I'm not wielding it.

And make sure I had a full night's rest the night before

Maybe if you had to equip a weapon and a shield? Those two descriptions would be up with the clothing, with "He/She wields a ..." And you can only use a weapon that is equipped. And if you forget to unequip your wooden shield and equip your iron one... that is you problem.

Of course, I'm guessing programming won't be too keen on that idea...

I wouldn't want it to be project, is what I meant. Rather more like wearing clothes, in that you equip a weapon and a shield. Not sure how it could work as a project. *shrugs* Sorry if that's what you meant.

I believe the wielding project was a joke. That would be a bit too thick to be true.

Well making it last a day is definitely no good....but I've always wondered what my character "holding an iron shield, an iron shield, a wooden shield and a bone shield" looks like.

So, if it works fast like clothes, that adds nothing to a straight-up fight but a few clicks. You put away your shield, whip out your greatsword, hack at your target, and whip out the shield again. That adds nothing beneficial to the game, and gives an extra incentive for players with too much time and fast connections to try to stab in the seconds while the shield is down.

Perhaps, if one carried something like a claymore, that would be their shield value (and make it a dual weapon/shield for duels and the sort), since afterall, you can block with a shield -but maybe not as much as an iron shield, for instance.

Can you guys discuss these ideas in another thread, please? This was meant more for suggesting things rather than discussing them. Thank you.

Keep giving me ideas for new weapons, protection or even ideas in improving the combat system and I'll see if I can add them.
