So what would you consider Northumberland to be in, the arctic? :lol:

Pretty much yes... :P

But I love the landscape of Northumberland. And I also love the name... it's the only old Kingdom to retain its name (besides Kent of course, but my feelings for Kent stem from different reasons than that). Northumberland inspires me... well at least the park does. The towns and cities are just like any other... :roll:

Ok well I disagree with you thre.

For one thing Northumberland is called Northumbria now.

And where else would you find a city built like newcastle. Its built on steps. The northern bank of the tyne looks out acroos the river across the whole of Gateshead. Its a great place. But then I'd agree with you if your thinking about Sunderland, thats a tip!

I don't really appreciate the beauty some see in cities. I much prefer older architecture and the simple beauty of the countyside. *shrugs* But whatever floats your boat...

And I'll keep calling it Northumberland because 1) It is a better name and 2) It is what it is called in the documents I study.

And as long as anyone else calls it Northumberland, the name survives. And you called it that first, before I mentioned it...

Architecture, yep that as well. Tyne Bridge, Millenium Gateshead-Newcastle Bridge, The Sage, St. James Park, Angel of the North. We got the lot!

And in that case, why dont you consider Cumbria to also have kept its name, since that used to be called Cumberland.
