The assumption that concrete = modern is not correct. The Romans had concrete. I suspect earlier civs did as well. It allowed the Romans to build things like aquaducts coliseums(sp) ect. None of which use large amounts of steel. I think the skyscraper is completely unrealistic in cantr, you could probably house the entire population of cantr in one skyscraper. I see nothing in the game that requires more than 6 stories.

I am a little curious about the necessity of a trowel for some stone projects. Perhaps like paper, concrete is assumed to appear out of thin air when needed.

On a completely different note, how about building like feudal japan. Just a wooden frame, and paper walls. Since its free, this would be a very efficient building technique.

LOL

Madman says: "im gonna kill you all!!!!!!!!!"

You see Madman hit a man in his twenties using a sabre.

You say: "Yikes! Thank Jos I got a lock.... So long suckers! *dash*"

You enter Paper house, leaving the central area of Nippon.

You see Madman entering Paper house through the wall.

Madman says: "mwahahahaha you think you can hide from me???!!"

Madman kills you using a sabre.

Though in reality no one would bother to say anything.

Yeah. Just because there is no building entitled "colluseum" (We all spell it differently, aparently.), doesn't mean you can't build a building named "colleseum" and have one that way.

You're still all wrong anyway. And the Colliseum is one specific building.

You could, however, build a Roman-style ampthitheatrum. Which is what the Colliseum is.

About the paper walls. Your forgetting that cantr paper is completely indestructable. Don't believe me, try getting rid of a note...

I claim because it's truth.

Supporting evidence: I've long been interested in ancient history and culture, including Roman. I also studied Latin for about five years.
