What are the commercials not doing for you? Now if the commercial is so funny or too artsy that you don't know what they are selling or what the message is then the commercial has failed. But if the commercial is not entertaining enough to grab your attention then it has once again failed. There are many commercials that fail in either one or even both matters.
Lets take a Geico commercial. Usually it is indirect ie. some doctor saying that he can cure baldness but at the end he turns around and says "but it won't save you money on car insurance". Now yes the commercial is entertaining and funny but do you get enough information about the company other than the fact they Geico sells car insurance.
Lets take Capital One commercial, the ones about saying no. You get the idea that if you sign up for a plan that there won't be any blackout dates. At the same time it is done in an entertaining way that grabs your attention. That, in my opinion, is a good commercial. It sells their product or service in an entertaining way that is able to grab your attention.
So give me your opinions?
Maybe it's just the fact that every ad thats imported over here seems to lack any sense of humour whatsoever and ends up looking bland and cheesy. Does your country even have a sense of humour other than the corny rubish you churn out in the form of 'Everybody loves Raymond' and other titles I could care less to mention. Wait no, Jim Carey is American right. Oh no hes canadian!
