I liked Anthony's click here... no not literally design because of all of the designs in this poll, that one is the least "inside joke" like.
That means that people who don't play cantr (and take my word for it, there are a lot of them) will still be able to see that shirt and laugh. They'll know it's an advertisement, and appreciate the kick they get out of seeing the shirt. Then maybe they'll log on and try it out.
West's is very funny, and imo a close second. But it still is too much of an "on the inside" type of shirt.
I rarely like to wear shirts that are big inside jokes, because people who don't get the jokes have to ask you to explain it to them.
And frankly, humor is like a frog: you can dissect it, but it tends to die in the process.

Dragonslayer's may not be as funny, but I think there's something to be said for being the most descriptive choice. And I don't think it's an inside joke.
Of course, if an inside joke is attention-getting, that may be enough to get people inside where they can understand it.

My exact thoughts here, that's why I too chose Anthony's! I would check out that website no matter what cause it's funny! West's one on the other hand can be looked at wrong if your not already in the game. Just MO.
a day without cantr, is a day spent in bed convulsing and suffering from withdrawl

Inside joke's can be attention-getting. But in my experience, it usually isn't in a good way. People will sense the joke, and be ready to laugh, but you'll have to explain to them why they should be laughing. And halfway through the explanation they'll be thinking: "Wow, this cantr thing sounds far too complicated to be funny, whatever."
For instance: I have a shirt that on the front of it says: "How to speak Australian" and on the back has the picture of a fancy seal (not the animal) and under it the word "Doormat."
I assure you, if you're "in the know," the shirt has some inherant humor. But probably none of you (and I guarantee no Australians) will understand it without me explaining all the details. By the time I'm done explaining, it just isn't funny anymore.
Of the five shirts on the poll, I'd be willing to wear Anthony's around in public the most.

Like Nick said, the whole marketing department made the choice for this poll.
Some designs only applied to certain groups, or certain people, and thus we didnt' feel they met the criteria for a single, universally applicable cantr shirt.
Others relied on graphics too heavily and that didn't work for practical reasons. Still others didn't have the URL, or didn't give enough information, etc.
These five were the ones the Marketing Department decided more or less unanimously on. The five we agreed the most on, certainly.
We really need to stick with one design if this is going to be feasible.
As far as having 'a woman in her twenties', 'a man in his thirties', etc, those are possibilities for a later date but for now we are voting on ONE design so we can get a rough idea of how many we're going to need to order. We need to be able to order a substantial number of whichever the winning design is so we can get a better price on it.
Everyone who plays cantr has played or seen 'a man in his twenties' in game, and the fact that many many cantr players AREN'T men in their twenties doesn't distract from this. For some people, that design will be completely applicable, and for others it will be completely inapplicable. Hopefully, either way they will arouse enough interest for people to either a) ask about them or
b) failing that, at least look at the back, where the URL is.
That's why I think (as the designer AND as Marketing) that if that shirt wins it could be worn whether one is a man in his twenties or not.
However, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Once the poll closes if that shirt's still in the lead and we have an idea of how many preorders we're going to have we can talk about the possiblity of a corresponding shirt for the female set.
We're still working out the details as far as payments, shipping, etc. work out. Remember, this is just a poll to find the most popular t-shirt design.
I'd appreciate it if those not in the Marketing Department would refrain from snide remarks about pricing, favoritism, etc. We're doing the best we can to come up with a design lots of people want at a good price.

Yes, and "the whole marketing department" means you and Nick, because the others aren't active or weren't asked. That is not a representative slice of players. Why push people to submit lots of creative designs if you aren't going to use them?

Hence I don't think that "a man in his twenties" should be there if you aren't going to provide at least a female version, not to talk about other ages.
Still others didn't have the URL, or didn't give enough information, etc.
You said the URL would be added to those in the poll that don't have it. Again, not a criteria you used consequently.

I certainly hope my comments are not considered "snide." I believe them to be quite reasonable and applicable. Nick asked for people to post the reasons for why they voted for a particular shirt. I'm assuming he wanted this because this would allow people to talk about why one shirt is better over the other (favoritism was therefore apparently asked for)
As for what Junesun said above, that makes a lot of sense... about not having a female version. I'm not trying to take anything away from the shirt design... as I said before, West's design is quite funny and clever, but if you were disqualifying certain shirt choices on the basis of them not being applicable to a certain number of cantr players, well... cutting off women, and men younger or older than there twenties is a fairly big cut. I'd rather wear a universal TBR shirt than not have the option to wear something that is both applicable to me and the game. (Note, I happen to be a man in my twenties, so I'm saying this even as a person who could wear the shirt without any problems.)
That's why I believe that that particular design should be held off until a later time when we have the interest and budget to release its female counterpart. But hey, I'm just trying to help you guys out. Don't want my advice, my comments, then don't ask for them.

What Junesun and kinvoya said...
There should be no 'man in his twenties' shirt without a 'woman' one... or... if there can only be one, it must be the woman version or none at all...
And as for the poll - I voted for my favourite of the ones provided, but had others that I prefered that were in the previous topic. I think the poll should have included an 'Other' option - so that there was some indication of whether what was picked out by marketing matched what everyone else would have chosen...

Obviously, no one who doesn't already play Cantr is going to understand any of the T-shirts so the goal (I thought) was to be intriguing enough to get people to remember and then look at Cantr online. For this reason I thought Agars designs were the best because they were the most interesting visually and in what they implied about the game.
The second most important aspect, I think, is that www .Cantr .com should be large and easily readable. Of Agars I liked the one with the pirate ship and the Tribe Blackrock one because they were the most striking.
I voted for Anthony's because I thought it was funny (I wouldn't wear it though) but far from the best choice of all originally offered.

Actually, you'd usually be right, as usually myself and West are the only ones who respond to emails, but it just so happens that everyone in the department inputted on this.
And we wanted to push people to create many designs so we had more things to choose from. Please remember we're only human, and we're doing the best we can. Only one design can be selected for an order unless we're selling a gargantuan number of t-shirts, which is unlikely. And that one design would be fairly impossible to satisfy everyone. We're doing the best we can.

I don't see why having only one design for the order (though several would be possible with other services) means that there can only be few to choose from. You could get as clear a vote result if you give many options and several votes for everybody. In the original thread, most people said they liked several of the designs.
Just for the fun of it, I counted the amount of people who said they liked this or that design there. That isn't completely representative because often new designs were added after they said so, and also not everybody participated, but it can give you a first idea of which ones were received particularly well:
1. West's a man in his twenties and Agar's rules
2. Bowser's motorcycle and Agar's sabering
3. Agar's TBR
...
Of these 5 designs, only the first is present in your poll.
