Hmm well i have enough chars who were able to get iron shield or better in their first 5 years trough different means.

Maybe your not trying hard enough?

Yeah there is a lack of iron only weapons.

We could use more uses for feathers anyhow. Gold filigree Crossbow? Add some gold to a a crossbow and a tool to inlay it. Iron Shod Billy club? Rapier with a silver basket? Why stop at weapons? Hide covered wooden shield? Add some hide hammered to the wooden shield. Diamond encrusted targe?

We've got more stuff to do things with, let's use it.

One problem here. In current prgramming, all output of projects is "brand new". This would be a cheap way to turn a "crumbling sabre" into a "brand new sabre" that happens to have some diamonds encrusted upon it. Yeah I know, no prob riht now since deter is reset anyway when it gets too bad... but that'll change... someday... *evil grin*

I'm only one person, damn it, and I still don't have access to the Cantr database anyways.

But to amuse myself, tell me why I should put a rapier in?

My point was that the weapons implemented most recently (which are cool by the way, this is not criticism) are in real life big weapons. The claymore is a very big sword, the broad and long swords aren't as big but are still pretty hefty and the short sword is just that: short. The one weapon that should be lighter, the sabre, seems to be seen by many as a larger sword rather than a thin, light but just as deadly weapon.
I would like a sword (that is quite common in RL) for those of my characters that I don't believe would wield such huge weapons.

Hence...
I want my rapier!

Note: when I say lighter, I don't necessarily believe they should require less material. But certain of my characters would not wield a large weapon, only something such as a rapier.

Um...the only way it can be lighter is for it to require less material, I believe. RPing that the rapier was lighter than the claymore if it actually weighted the same would seem like a CRB to me...

I do see the appeal, though. Some of my characters don't seem like claymore-swinging types, but as things are set up they would want to be. Meh.

I was trying to avoid complaints that I only wanted cheaper weapons... the problem being that a rapier can kill you just as easily as a longsword, but if you make the damage the same, then people would go for the rapier everytime. I don't want another weapon that does pointlessly small amounts of damage in relation to materials needed, like the dirk. I loved the idea, but in reality they are a waste of resources. Something if needed to balance the rapier out...

Perhaps different tools or machines to balance it out?

Or once degradation is actually implemented and not resetted everytime it gets close to destroying items than a rapier could have high maintenance and quality will degrade faster due to it being so much thinner than a broad sword. So it can be just as deadly and still be light but you have to keep maintenance on it much more than a broad sword.

Yes, that is the other solution.

*Pats Surly and gives him a pacifier.* Don't choke on it. I still haven't gotten my dungarees in the other thread and I've been asking far longer.

The man is right, BODY ARMORS!

That's the one big thing still missing. I mean if we have 11 swords instead of 10...i don't care. But we need body armor.
