its not to big a deal to me

i have an equal number of charries of opposite sex.
and like most of you already said. I play them to the best of my ability. though I am a guy it can be hard to play s few of my girls. One though I made into a total tomboy but decided that she can a soften up a bit for others.

i only have 2 of them though right now in a relationship of some sorts while others are more focused carrer wise....evil master mind
I am the Dragon Slayer. And as long as I have my friends behind me. I will never fall.

I have female characters involved in relationships...some even sexual.
I don't find it hard to play characters of the other sex and I don't find it disturbing if the girl my big burly man in his thirties have been flirting with is controlled by a man.

I remember one player who seemed very disappointed when he found out that the cute girl his character was about to marry was controlled by me though.

Thanks everyone. Like I said before I have no problem with playing characters in whatever situation they me be. I think it is down to maturing in a way or just being comfortable yourself. Glad I asked the Q now. U all helped a lot.

Would that be Jonas Kooth, the aspiring tailor from Xiria Forest?

Bingo. :) Somehow.. the way he chats with Rapp can be girlish sometimes.. :) Though he must have some feelings towards Vashti, so he ain't totally gay.

I think Rapp is just very open with people he see's as friends which means he can talk about a wider range of topics without being bothered what other people think. If there is a bunch of people Rapp will be quite loud and outspoken, never afraid to announce his presence or deal with the consequences... Rapp's goal in life is more of a quest for knowledge than a quest for material wealth or power and I think he appreciates Jonas' love for the craft of a tailor and the fact he's so easy to get along with as he doesn't pretend to be someone he isn't.

That's the way I see it anyway! Heh and yeah you've guessed it I'm you're travelling partner :)

I don't see any problem with it. Half of my characters are male, even though I'm a girl. If your character is in a relationship, it's not as if you, as the actual person at the computer, are carrying on a relationship with the other character's controller. I don't see why roleplaying the opposite sex would be a problem; the way I see it, it's no different than roleplaying a character who has different colored hair or is a different age.

First off, welcome to the boards Halley ;)

I think we can all conclude and agree, that cantr is just roleplay. If you think its anything more serious...then...you have...serious...problems *coughs*. I've decided to pursue one of my female char's into a relationship, in the same current matter West carries on his, as he stated in the earlier post.

I've been thinking about this topic lately, as my most serious relationship has developed with one of my female characters. It's kind of funny to imagine what the person on the guy's side of the net is thinking as we're flirting. Can they tell I'm a guy playing a girl? Are they male or female? Not that that's a big deal, but I can't help but be curious.

I'm intrigued by trying to explore the female psyche, seeing if I can think like a girl, I guess, more than anything. Most of the time I feel like my female characters are falling into the damsel in distress, weak little schoolgirl stereotype, though, so I don't know how well I'm pulling it off.

Here's a question I think I've seen addressed but can't seem to find the reference I'm thinking of.

Of the player / character combinations you've known of in the course of your interactions, which players have done an exceptionally good job of playing the opposite sex? I guess specifically, how believable were they in terms of representing a member of the gender? Do guys tend to play pretty good women and vice versa?

Well, Missy plays an excellent Michael Hart. That's one I know for sure.

Well my charries are about 2/3 female 1/3 male. I've got one female getting into a relationship. I had one guy that did some light flirting, but it wasn't received well. Don't know if it was my poor roleplaying, or reticence on the female charry's player's part (don't know if I got all the possessive's gramatically correct there).

By the way, Wichita, nice new avatar. And so seasonally appropriate. I used to live in Tornado Alley.

I thought I had half and half boys and girls but then I counted and to my shock realized I got 10/15 male! But the half and half rule applies because the five characters that have died were all female. So does that say my girls are eager to get hurt or that Cantr is more dangerous for chicks?

I've started 10 characters so far, only 3 of them female. And one of them is the one who managed to get killed. I think I don't generally start too many because it gives me one more thing I have to consider to come near decent play...

It's been my impression that women, especially young ones, get away with more alive than men. Which would suggest that you put them at more risk...but then, my death statistics, as far as they go (not far...I think what happened is that that was my one character with much physical courage), point to the same place.
