Actually that young man simply brought a cut & pasted version of the events screen for the time of the upheavel. And I doubt that anything in it was doctored. The "lies" that were spread were just what could be inferred by what was said publicly, and all the TBR ppl saying "drag quickly" to each other and all the Collective ppl being dragged into the TBR building.
Looking at the actual, public events objectively, it seemed a fairly sketchy business. Even TBR has to admit that. The Collective people didn't go out of their way to embelish the facts.

That's just not true. I had two other chars on the K Island and both heard him scream through town yelling something like, "Tribe Blackrock is attacking and killing innocent citizens. They could be here anytime!" If I ever get around to it I will find and post the exact quotes.
There may have been anther man dropping the cut and paste but I never saw it anywhere. I'm not sure but I think I also remember Ben and Nick telling blatant lies.
One person's "sketchy business" is another person's justified change of the power structure. They could do it so they did it. No one really got hurt and the people of Karnon Forest are fine today and always were. I was surprised that a lot of them didn't even seem to be aware of the change. There was almost no discussion of it.

It was impossible to tell who was getting hurt because of a glitch in the events screen/attack thingie.
Are you saying it was unreasonable to assume that if they were attacking the legitimate government they weren't attacking the innocent civilians as well?
Freudian slip there?

Hee, very cute but no, I was just running out the door and didn't have time to double check. It's always been too easy to confuse them. Why couldn't they have more distinct names, darnit?

Yes. There was no evidence upon which to base those rumors. If they had said that TBR could also be attacking innocent citizens then it would have been reasonable but the statements were given as fact. Perhaps Ben and Rick just were too embarrassed by how quickly they fled from an attack by two people to admit the truth. In my recollection Nick and Dismai were the only two "attackers." Admittedly, there probably would have been more if other TBR members had been awake.

He was once. I don't remember who it was. No one else could see anyway. But yeah, clearly there was no plan to kill him.
@kinvoya: dismai couldn't have been nearly as powerful as you say since there was really very little power to be had. she locked up thieves, yes, but that's more responsibility than power. the only times i think you could really call what she had "power" was when she was letting her own personal biases interfer with her doing a her job correctly. the most obvious example being the ethan/ben thing, but at that point it mattered very little since the collective was about to be ripped apart anyway.
DOOM!

There would have been, probably because Dismai said "Kill them!" to the world at large.
And no innocent CITIZENS died, maybe, but what happened to Nisira or Javan Euclid?
Anyway, Rick never said that TBR was killing other people.
But about which government was better, there's one fact you keep ignoring: The other government (and Rick specifically) had one real goal: To make life better and freer for everyone in Karnon Forest - and by extension the rest of the island. The current regime wants to make life better for itself, and if others benefit from it so much the better.
The older people went out of their way to make life better for people, even at the expense of personal power, privelege, and even respect, because they honestly believed in freedom and non-restriction and letting people do what they wanted to do if it didn't hurt people.
I don't see the new regime doing that.

Hey... My Blackrock was awake too. Very awake through the entire ordeal. The part I remember most is when Rick was dragged into the TBR HQ, but he woke up and walked right on out immediatly after. Made me laugh.

Okay, because you've roused my interest, I had my character dig through his trashed notes until he found that days events. Dismai never said anything publicly bad. Although she didn't buy Nisira's story, which was true, because I had a character with her who witnessed the story she gave. (So to me that makes Dismai a duped "bad guy")
The real thing that makes TBR not look so good is what Nick says.
When Rick escapes and hops onto the Collective Transport, Nick shouts "Attack him!!!!!!!"
and
"Also, anyone leaves town while this is happening, you will be attacked, until your dead or turn around."
Now, can you blame Rick or Ben for assuming murdererous intent? When there's smoke, there's fire.

Possibly the most fortuitous login I've ever experienced, coupled with the fact that Nick hadn't changed the front door key. It's good to have lil' surprises like that.

Well, of course they were trying to kill Ben and Nick after the dragging failed. What were they going to do, apologize? It was much too late to turn back and Nick had to tell TBR en masse that the plans had changed. Things were crazy frantic when we realized that the tiredness changes and dragging gliches were insurmountable obstacles.
I haven't reread the events but I was pretty sure that Dismai remained silent during the incident. *sticks tounge out at West* So don't be lyin' 'bout my chars, dude.
And Dismai wasn't duped, silly. Do you think she didn't know exactly what was going on everywhere? She was stalling and trying to justify locking up the out of town anti-TBR factions before the main event. Up until that point she had steadfastly remained neutral in any conflicts involving TBR. Most notably in trying to difuse the tensions between her friend, Austin Powers, and Nick. She had disarmed and arrested the notorious Austin twice, just to protect him from her hot-headed husband.
