Pets!

I think the coolest thing would be to be able to catch that horse and ride it or store stuff on it while traveling instead of just killing it. You could even make a big deal out of taiming and training it, have it act up once in a while, and have it take a portion of your food aswell. 8)

Although I was mislead by the title, I do like the idea of taming wild animals.

Maybe the guy in the other thread will get his lion after all? (sorry, I totally forgot your name)

I think it would need to be more basic animals, like hawks and such. But having a pet hawk bring a rabbit down every year or so would rock. And I know I've seen a carrier pigeon thread.

Try this. Jos, I know you're listening...let me spawn a character as a raccoon! I'll give it a shot of being the crazy talking raccoon in Olip Forest.

I voted no because I like to hunt, weither or not its someones pet.

You're just going to nab me extra jail time for killing your oversized rat.

Maybe after animals are individualised, they can be named, as pets often are. Then, if you don't want people to hunt your pet, you can put a note out about it. Or, give some easy way to identify it, like one of the collars that you can make (did anyone esle notice those?)

As animals stand, I don't think pets would be a good idea at all.
Reality was never my strong point.

I'd only say yes to pets if I could "accidently" run over them with my car. Nuff said.

well realistically if you lose the char who's trying to tame one that'd be the end of it cause it'd be really strange if all you chars suddenly wanted a pet lion at the same time ;)

Domestication is something a lot of people want, I think...

If you tame an animal would it be possible to have it show up as a new herd? Maybe it could show up as "1 tamed horse" or "1 cat named Snowball" or something like that. Probably the first option and allow dynamic naming like we have with people.

That way you could have the option of hunting your neighbor's cat, like that one crazy guy in the news from Wisconsin.

Ah, same with me.

One character is the way to go. Having alot is cheap.
