In all fairness, it's really hard, especially if you don't know much about computers. We're talking digging through source code, EXIF files (in later puzzles), color channels, outside research, sound manipulation, decryption. It's not called "the hardest riddle available on the internet" for nothing.
If you make it past 16 you should be fine.

16 took me ages... I got the invert thing straight away, and got what the words were from the previous levels that were needed, and kinda thought what the differenced between the #s and those without were - then I found someone on the IRC on the same level, and we exchanged ideas and got it quite quickly... I never realised how many people do that thing
