Yeah but if he's updating the old map it's gonna take ages to replace all the apostrophies. I did with one of my characters' journal without logging out in the middle and managed to run out of minutes. Ok I had used most of them earlier and it was close to the reset but I believe there was at least half an hour.

Yeah, that's why for right now, it's probably best to just make the notes you want to edit in later.

I find it's hard to get by without my apostrophes!

I have a similar problem with a game I have installed, the apostrophe key opens up the game console for entering commands, so everytime I accidently use one I lose what I was saying and go into console mode. It's really hard to train yourself to stop using proper punctuation like that :(

Mapmaker

Postby Thomcat » Wed Mar 16, 2005 9:17 pm

I have a mapmaker who is wandering and mapping, munching carrots as he goes.

But he has the "location map" bug, so he has to wait a bit. As some have said, the "text map" is useful, but not as pretty...

Well, really, you don't need to use the graphics image for maps. I find that hand drawing it is more realistic (and harder).

I think the handdrawn maps are much more impressive - I like the one on K-Isle - but I can't remember the author at the moment...

By the way - how many Maps are there of K-Isle
I know of at least four visual maps alone...

Well, it's a small island. It's possible to cross all towns in just a couple of years.

By the way, are there any inter-continental maps? I.e. maps showing more then (a part of) one island? I've never seen one.

Yes. Sort of. One of my chars has a map that has bits of K-island and an adjacent island on it. It's not in wide circulation, though--I think only one or two people have it. And it only shows a location or two from each (and the sea in between, which is important).

There's several maps with directions from Siom area to Olip area on them.

I DO plan to have another map maker, eventually, it's just in my nature. Nothing as earth shattering as Dirt (funny how all those graphical maps popped up after I did that. There was like one or two before mine, and mainly covering Kiii and Zuzi.)

The treefeather map is STILL vastly impressive. My heartiest congradulations on you accoplishments so far and my best wishes on your continued work. As long as you pass me a copy too.

I'd also like to extend my professional nod towards the explorers working on the hand drawn map extending into the Lad area. The hand drawn maps DO give a certain atmosphere to the note contents, and the work of mapping Lad is at least as hard, if not harder, than treefeathers map.

Now we just need someone to map Aki...

Too bad I haven't spawned there ... yet.

I intend to hand draw that map, but without the location graphic, it's really hard. I can see that a region I am in is "hills" or "grasslands" or "mountains", but not what's around it. Not so effective...

Staff is aware of the problem, and hopefully working on a fix.

A shame my map connecting Naron to the Dhung island seems to have been lost.

Agar,

Was Dirt's map of the island with Olip., Blojt, Longinazy, Pok areas on it? Was it the one that looked like a kindergartener drew it in MS Paint and had a big circle with "Crazy man here" or something similar?

My mapmaker character loves that map. So do I.

That map sounds cute, but no, Dirt's map was cut and pasted locations with airbrushing to fake the sections of coastline I never got to actually see myself. It wasn't hand drawn at all.

I actually prefer the handdrawn maps in game because they have so much more character, but I don't think I could do one like that myself.

My character made a map of the kwor island. Its a hand drawn one made to look like its on a bit of parchment.
