My wilderness explorer/sailor/pirate/thief char
I call it "barbarian chic":

-leather pants
-handwoven crown of roses
-leather vest
-pair of bone earrings
-iron bracelet
-bone ring
-bone necklace

My "Femme fatale":

-plumed hat
-leather skirt
-leather vest
-leather jacket
-leather shoes

My personal favorite, the gentleman sailor:

-cotton trousers
-cotton tunic
-cotton gloves
-cotton headwrap
-cotton facewrap

barbarian splendor, or "this is how we dressed before your fancy cotton"

-rose crown
-fur cloak
-leather pants
-leather shoes
-bone earrings
-bone bracelets

"I think you mean, Yes Captain, MA'AM"

-feather headdress
-leather pants
-snakeskin boots
-silk jacket
-bone bracelet

and one character who wears nothing but a silver ring with a diamond

Oh, and thank you for your input, by the way.

Woo-hoo! And you thought it was just your charm that attracted all the ladies.

silk robe...ok.

On behalf of the poor sodding male staff of MWS inc, I feel that silk pantaloons are fine for men - a little "oriental" maybe, but otherwise just fine! 8) After all, they are employees of a leading manufacturer of silk cloth and have to look the part. Simply combine them with a sturdy pair of leather boots - we can agree that silk slippers would be too much.

On the other hand, surely a silk robe is the most feminine of items. Diaphanous? I mean to say!

By the way, one of my charries has decided that tortoiseshell is far too valuable to waste on eventually "crumbling" old shields. So...

cotton dress
clogs
tortoiseshell earrings
tortoiseshell ring

I still prefer leather pants!! The silk shirt is really cool, but hey, it's only my opinion.... but I do agree with you that silk slippers on a man would be a bit........well......just don't do it!!

But the male staff of MWS.....let them wear silk, it's good advertisement for the company I suppose

   They are your charries, dress them the way you wish!!

Well, it's good to know that at least someone doesn't think that the pantaloons are effeminate. I think that pantaloons sounds kind of piratey, maybe a little roguish (in the playfully mischievous sense that is) . Well, looks like the jacket, the shirt, and the pantaloons are what my character is going to end up with. Another question though, (I know, I know, I'm full of them) what's your opinion on a man wearing moccasins? So far I don't think I've seen anyone mention one of their male characters wearing moccasins, that I can recall.

Well, now that I've gotten that cleared up, my character can proceed to assemble his wardrobe. :)

Thanks to everyone that helped me out.

Oooo! Ooo! Me!

I own a char that has:

Silk Pants
Silk Coat
Silk shirt
snakeskin boots ALL of which he feels unattractive and uncomfortable in.

But he also owns:
Moccasins
Hemp pants
Hemp long-coat
Fur cloak
snakeskin necklace
He has a thing for fur so never forgets his cloak when he's going to the mountains. Otherwise, he feels most comfortable when he's bare-chested and showing off his body.

Then theres another char I got
He owns a robe, nothing else. Thats probably all he'll ever own, because he can't imagine being in a pair of pants period. They just look uncomfortable to him.

Then another guy that insists the closer you are to nude, the more barbaric you look while others think leather will strike some fear into enemies. He'll stick to the concepts of a loin-cloth, likely.

I have a chick with a silk sari and she feels almost like someone important in it. :)

I have a char that owns nothing but a fur cloak which was given to her as a gift, and she's appreciative of it because when she spawned she was cold. She's sure that people who get the "Sleeping sickness" also feel the coldness she felt when she spawned.

I have another female with a cotton tunic and a few types of jewlrey. She would like to have all different types of clothing, especially those that would make her stand out. She has her eye on this ring she helped make, but I can't imagine she'll ever manage to convince the owner she deserves it.

Can't believe I'm posting here...

I've only got two characters who pay much of any attention to such things.

One wears a fur cloak, leather boots, hide loincloth, and bone bracelet. All his own work. He'd probably switch over to a suit of cotton pretty fast if he ever had a chance.

Another of my characters wears only a crown of daisies. It was a deliberate, calculated choice when she was younger...probably doesn't work as well on a woman in her fourties, but she doesn't have any good alternatives since she got derailled.
