What are you talking about? Larry is just a whinny kid. Don't really have a problem with the rest. Maybe Demi, cause she slapped Vern. I actually thought Vern had a good chance there. To bad eh?

Ohhhhh. Larry isn't a 'whinny kid'. Vern's just a womanizer. Anyone who knows Larry would disagree with you. *Hopes*

And nitefye, I was being totaly serious. :D

The history of K-island SHOULD be written and constantly updated. It reminds me of a mini Romance of the Three Kingdoms -a book documenting the wars and intrigue of ancient china. Key players are constantly rising up, factions are being formed, each place is establishing a style, a culture all its own. It's fantastic. I love K-island.

The K-island is definitely my favourite. Even if I have managed to miss most of the defining moments there...

Larry's just a bit delicate and hard to interpret at times. ;) Very hard to judge.

Well, speaking for Kirinn Forest, its style has been long developed and maintained. The date on their note is 650. And I really do applaud how it indeed operates. Reminds me more of a family unit than a town, really.

Of course, there's always the oddball *coughs*Uncle Larry*coughs*

Oh and Surly, Karnon's a lot cooler now. *cough*Karnonisthebest*cough*

Honestly, I'd say that char is THE single most influential person on the history of the island, as far as how different it'd look now if he hadn't ever been around. I'm not saying that just because he's my char, either; I honestly do believe that and I'm honored to have had a part in it, even if his recent years have been, if not exactly uneventful, hardly super-relevent to everyone in the area.

The most influential character alive on the island, I'd say.

I'm not so sure. He's never done anything that actually affected any of my 4 characters on the island.

Although that probably isn't the best measure. :?

He helped set the culture of the island, so yeah, he did affect your character's life in some way.

sorry for the doublepost, here's a history of KF I posted in Feb of 04

west wrote:Sure thing:

Ace Grant born in Karnon, finds out there's iron and wood next door, decides he wants an empire and needs someone to control iron. Sends Rick O'Shea, a newly-minted Captain in Imperial Army, to go take it over for him. O'Shea finds HvyThg Jr. there in control, persuades him to accept Imperial dominion. Goes back to Karnon to report, finds out Ace has already made a treaty with Austin Powers on behalf of HvyThg, and is appointed Imperial Defense Coordinator of Forest, while Austin and HvyThg are governors. After a while, rules/regulations get too strict, (ID cards for guests and citizens, rules about who can go where etc., 50g iron limit per citizen, none at all for non-citizens) and once proportion of free-thinking individuals in Forest gets high, O'Shea declares independence. (618) HvyThg immediately falls in line. Powers is away at the time. Raf. Cervantes, Alex Mason, Peter Kilm, Alioet Jean, and Norbert Billington were among the people petitioning for end of restrictions.
Forest starts building war bows and iron shields to defend against possible Imperial retaliation, which never comes. A council is elected to run the forest, consisting of Rick, HvyThg, Norbert, Alioet, and Alex.
Around this time the Cervantes/Blackrock tribe splits up.

Firecam Inc. comes to the forest, starts raising a ruckus--potential for war or at least bloodiness reaches dangerously high levels, but is alleviated and crisis is averted, but Council steps down. New rounds of elections fall through, and Forest is without formal government.
Word reaches KF of Imperial Republic of Karnon.

Blackrock tribe starts expanding. Alex Mason starts locking people up for hitting animals. O'Shea starts Collective to utilize old Council resources. Most old Council members join Collective. Collective then fails to do anything at all except exist on paper.

Norbert, Alioet, HvyThg head to Kwor to free it from Haily Blerks. On the way, they're captured by Ace Grant, who brings an army from Karnon to try to retake the Forest. The Army is captured and Grant is killed by about half-a-dozen Forest residents (and one defactor from his Army)
Around the same time, another Imperial Army member releases Norbert, Alioet, and HvyThg from prison in rather suspicious circumstances

O'Shea heads to Karnon to check it out and see what new government forms, HvyThg heads back to Kwor.

Alex Mason starts exercising more muscle in the everyday affairs of Karnon Forest, and starts locking people up for such crimes as looking at him funny, and eating carrots.

That about brings us up-to-date

And Nick's response to it a few days later:

Nick wrote:Well West's guy has been in Karnon Forest longer than mine, so I will leave his part untouched. I can give you a history of the Tribe, however.

Alexander Mason was born/spawned in Kirinn. Kaidan, the local elder, proposed a new type of government, a tribal system. The people would join tribes, there was a set of tribal laws, among other things. Mason formed Tribe Blackrock, which was to wander the island in a seemingly hopeless effort to find the black rock, "iron". Rafaela Cervantes formed Tribe Cervantes, and the two of them merged shortly after. When we arrived in Kirinn Soufields, an early version of dust's map was on the ground, with no person in sight. Knowing not of other civilisations, Mason took it as a sign that the gods wanted to lead him to Karnon Forest to protect the "world's" source of iron.

Upon arriving in Karnon Forest, the Tribe was informed by the government that reigned there under Ace Grant (HvyThg, Austin, Rick), that they were not allowed to dig iron. The Tribe fought against that ruling, and eventually convinced Rick to declare independance from Karnon, whereupon a Forest Council was formed, consisting of Mason, Rick, HvyThg, Norbert (TBR member, at the time), and Aeiolet Jean (sp?).

Rafaela, who's original vision for the Tribe was to be a nomadic people, was furious that Norbert and I decided to take permanent residence in the Forest. She and several other members left us, calling themselves Tribe Cervantes (now known as the Nation of Mobilia)

Things went smoothly until the arrival of Keldorn Firecam, and his employees. Firecam Inc. wanted to disobey the laws of the government, specifically no steel making. Mobilia also protested these laws, as well as many other new arrivals. We locked up Keldorn in the Citizens Quarters for a while, and discussed what we would do with him. We then let him out, after which he turned around and locked us all up as well. When he let us out, Alex was a changed man. He lacked all anger, all charisma that he once had. He resigned from the council, as he believed nobody wanted a government, so it was pointless. The rest of the council followed, and the Forest was governmentless. Alex then vowed to protect the thinning numbers of the animals, whom he considers gifts from the gods.

Most of the former council members joined a new group, called the Collective. Alex was offered to join, but he declined, devoting his life to his tribesmen. He started to begin his interest in new technologies, making for the first time leather, and steel.

The rest will come at a date where the information is no longer relevant to the current events. Tell me what you think of this history.

I think this is an awesomely bad idea.
Really, writing the history of the region anywhere but IC is going to have ill effects. These things don't stop being relevant...a lack of grasp on the sweep of history has a lot of effect on newspawns, and on governments for that matter.

I'd love to read it, but I don't want to risk the big picture contaminating my under-informed character. :(

I'd agree with industrialist to a point - but here must be loads of things that happened, that no living character knows anything about - things like that shoulc be written up - I'd love to read a history of K-Isle...
Whoever you vote for.

@ Industrialist: When I wrote that, I meant IC. There are still enough people around who know the history of their areas from the very beginning. All they'd have to do is write in game memoirs, which could later be collected by a scholar.

My character is going to write what he knows, and then make a note of what he's heard about the past. It will be a very skewed, egocentric view of his area, but if no one else cares to write down the proper history, then it will be the texts people learn.

Well whats wrong with being a womanizer? Demi and the other females seemed to enjoy the attention. And how is Larry a new man? You get that stick out of his bum or something?
