I believe titanium is stronger than steel. I also believe that is more chemically inert than most other metals and know that it is non-magnetic, so it won't interfere with an MRI in the future.
Not that I would be wishing an MRI worthy incident upon you...

Anthony already mentioned that item deterioration might throw a bit of a spanner in the works. Nobody's yet said that with item deterioration going on, nothing's going to survive long enough to become an ancient relic- not unless somebody repairs it, which is a little bit daft. This brings us back to point that item deterioration really ought to be a function of how much use an item gets and how it's stored, not just a function of time, as it is now. Then it would be possible for Cantrian relics to be lovingly preserved,
or lost then found again.

Yeah, I'd really like to see a way to have relics. I have a character of mine who is very interested in obtaining a crossbow with value other than being a weapon. Perhaps after breaking to a certain point, they become unusable rather than disappear?

Yes that's what I was thinking although that doesn't solve the item growth problem. Perhaps it should just break down into it's essential parts (maybe a little extra missing) that would be like repairing it as you coul duse the pieces to make other things you could also intentionally break something in order to use it's parts on other projects.

Well, if they're going to make resources like haematite finite, they're going to have to implement recycling for iron products- and for anything else that's non -renewable. Hopefully recycling will come in first. I expect that will work much as you describe- except if a little bit of iron goes missing each time won't we have the opposite of an item growth problem? Or will they program in newly-discoverered veins of haematite every now and then to balance things out?
(By the way, How come Cantrian haematite is spelled the American way, with the "a" missed out? I thought English spellings would be the norm)

I got to thinking about the "Siom Forest Wood" issue which Nixit raised. What if it worked by adding a new resource to an area. Maybe the wood wouldn't be found in a specific Forest area (that regularly had wood) but perhaps in another place. For instance, Shambon North has potatos and sand. What if one day they discover "palm trees" and that can be harvested. It's that new, special item which would be used for unique or mythic items. In this case, maybe a special walking stick which would let you travel faster in mountain areas.
Regardless of whether this is used for unique items, it would be nice to "discover" a new resource in an area which didn't have something. I remember reading one post (quite some time ago!) about some grouping of towns which had absolutely no access to iron. Wouldn't it be great if somehow one of the towns discovered that one day? It would just be a matter of the programming department adding it to a region.
And this would be a boon to all the mapmakers out there. I was reluctant to make a map maker because I'd seen so many maps already littering the towns I was in. If you add some new resources, it would prompt a whole new batch of people to go exploring again.

There have been some examples of resources suddenly appearing in towns over time. Albeit they are few and far inbetween. The K-island addition is a notable example.
I would love relics in cantr. Period. These unique items would be things that entire communities could rally behind. Pirates and thieves the world over would conceive of plots to steal them. And it would be a life's challenge for people just to make them. If it's at all plausible to introduce them to Cantr, I really hope that it's made so.
