Just learn to multi-task although it doesn't solve the minutes thing

I've been thinking....maybe its not slow...maybe its just been forced to be slow so once it goes back to normal everyone would think, "Wow, the new server is so fast" !...yup, I'm bored :)

There have been plans for a server change for awhile now. It got delayed before. I can't remember why, but they said the yplan the move in March so an update would be nice.

The notice on the frontpage about the slowness is getting annoying now.
If you put up a notice like that you have to keep it updated or remove it after a few days. Now it's just getting annoying..

How? I hardly notice it.

When the notice first appeared it was slow. Now it ranges from excrutiatingly, glacially slow to impossible. How long will this continue? I'm getting dangerously unaddicted.

I wasn't going to post a comment on the slowness because I'm sure that the programmers know about the problem, but I'm going to anyway.

The game has been ruined since the server bogged down like this. I'm logging on just long enough to make sure my charries are working on something, but that's about it. Conversations have ceased in just about all the populated towns my chars are in, and people are beginning to keel over.

The part of the game that is most entertaining to me is interactions with other chars and roleplaying, not building stuff or hunting, or anything else that you just work on everyday without putting much thought into it.

I hope the server is fixed or replaced, or whatever, soon because right now I would call the game 'unplayable'. :(
Was it for this my life I sought?
Maybe so, maybe not.

I'm finding it (marginally) playable, but it's obvious that most people aren't...probably because they can't dedecate as much time to waiting for pages to load as I can. Which kind of makes my waiting not worth it...

I would assume the programmers are fully aware of the slowness. If not, they must be on another planet... (I exclude Anthony from that remark, for obvious reasons  )

It would be nice to get an update on what's happening though. And why this slowness has suddenly appeared.

So if anyone can oblige...

Yeah. All activity has ceased. To be honest, it's getting beyond boring now.

But to be fair, who are we to complain. This is a free game. Better a slow Cantr than no Cantr.

Actually, I would prefer they suspended Cantr for a week and sorted the problem than kept it slow. Then I'd know that my characters weren't starving, and that nobody was doing anything.

Although obviously slow Cantr is preferable to permanently no Cantr.

I agree, Surly. It would be a relief if they suspended the game for a while. I think most of us who are still playing are playing out of a sense of obligation (to our characters and those they interact with) and hopes for a better future, rather than for fun. And now there's the depressing spectacle of formerly active characters giving up the ghost in droves. It's not just that characters are dying, but that it's all-too-often it's those characters who used to hold communiities together, by organising things or even just by being really entertaining. Presumably they're giving up because the role they play is too demanding to fulfil under these present conditions. It's heartbreaking.
