You said you were philosopherizin'.

A method to is find another model to reference.
Trees and saplings are not as important as people no matter what the Green Party says. :P
A Tree is as different from a person as a sapling is different from a child.
The difference between a tree and a sapling death is the same difference between an adult and a child death.

Well, using that model I'd say cutting down the tree is the greater shame, as it is established, and the sapling still could die before it grows, if the sapling dies it hadn't grown into anything.

And that's the thing. Measuring real loss versus potential loss. I am more worried about potential loss.

I think most people base it on the model of "old geezer" vs. "teletubbie". Teletubbie wins because it's cuter.

"Have you heard all the stuff about "Don't eat the tuna, Dolphins get killed in the fishing nets". What about the tuna? They don't do splash around in the water and do tricks? That the problem. People only want to save to cute animals." Dennis Leary

but I take the view that both are human, albeit at different stages, and saying that killing one is worse is wrong because they are both human, both have life, and that is what they lose and so they both lose the same thing, the same quality, and the same amount, so the "wrongness" is equal.

I think the idea of making children immortal for the sole reason that people can be offended if they see virtual children die is kind of crazy...violence IS a part of the game, and in my mind must be since it is a part of life...if people can't handle that the shouldn't play the game at all.

I also don't think it is wise to "reward" people who want to play children with extra slots. There will probably be a great lack of children...at least in the start, and if you get extra slots pretty much everyone would play them...even those who think it would be fun to play one and kill it off when they get tired of them.

I also have a suggestion that I know is very controversial...if procreation is introduced I think there should be a way to force such a project.
Rape is great both as a form of opression, but also from RP view...it would also make young women vulnerable in a way that the game hasn't managed to simulate yet.

Well...it IS quite horrible and disgusting, but so is any form of murder.

But even a despicable crook should be able to TAKE himself a son or daughter.

I would like to point out that women could rape men as well.

Now I'm beginning to imagine a society of Amazon women waylaiding every man that crosses their path so that they could procreate.

Could but don't need to. Guys are easily lead when it comes to that subject.

Remember that sex'es evolutionary purpose for males is only to share gentics between the females. Males are a subset of the female form. A gentic envelop. Dare I say it. A tool. :)

I probally end up deleting this later beacuse of the response.

I thought it was only rape if one of the parties didn't consent, hence, you can't rape men :P
