Uploading a picture to a note?

Postby Capt. Mobious » Wed Feb 23, 2005 2:40 am

Hello,

I've got a mapmaker running around and when I finally have time to put the map together, I'd like to know how to upload it to a note. From the little I know of HTML, don't I have to send a separate file to someone and 'link' to it within the note? I'm assuming I can't just copy and paste the picture into a blank note. I've seen pictures in other notes (The OneLeg Note in Quillanoi is quite impressive!). How does this process work? I've seen other postings about making bold or colored fonts but nothing about pictures. I've got another character who would probably 'draw' portraits for people but I can't offer this until I know how to do this step. Thanks in advance!

you'll probably get told this once you get notification of the picture being uploaded, but you have to use a HTML tag (like you do when making thiungs bold or italic etc.) to get the piccie in

You'll need to write something like:

<IMG>www.cantr.net/picture398567.jpg</IMG>

or whatever the file link is that you're given - just make sure the filename is from the Cantr site and not elsewhere - or a telling off will be in order ;)
Whoever you vote for.

Are we encouraged or discouraged to upload pictures? For instance, if one of my characters makes 'portraits' of people--that aren't exactly, er, stunning, will I be told to cut it out? My artist isn't exactly, er, sane... I guess I'm really asking if this will be a stress on the administrators of Cantr. Otherwise, I might go image happy with my notes.

no, you can upload whatever pictures you need to put into notes as long as you aren't breaking the capital rule. there's no rule for instance against insulting other characters.
(although watch out because anthony, who now seems to be in charge of this sort of thing, is an image size nazi  )
