There is a surname in Noway that looks like it could be pretty close to Lenseth and it means 'ruler of lands'. I believe lenze or something like that is land in Norwegian. Isn't 'Norwegian' the language?

But my Great Great Grandfather spelt Lenseth exactly how I spelt even before coming over to America so I'm not sure if that he changed it or something or that is how it was always spelt. There are some records of Lenseth's in Norway and in Germany but neither are related to me and are long dead. As far as I know Lenseth is Norweign but there are Lenseth's recorded in Germany so it could be German too. My Lenseth part of my family is very mysterious. Between the recorded Lenseth's in Norway, that go back to 1600's but end sometime in the late 1700's, there is a large gap where there aren't any until my Great Great Grandfather, Paulas Olef Lenseth, came about in the late 1800's. Paulas' parent's names were never recorded anywhere nor anything to explain that gap of time. I'm thinking that perhaps the record were lost but who knows.

Orion- is of Greek origin. Falls back to ancient greece meaning " Son of fire, the Great hunter, provider.

Well, I know what the name means. but I really ment that i don't know why i picked it. I more than one internet nick: Stray, Smockey and Termite, so i dont know why I picked a new name.

Orion is a constellation, also known as the hunter. It's history as a constellationg goes back to the times of the hittites (before the greek even) And was know as a great hunter (and lover).

But why choosse it as a name? Whenever I look up to the sky, I see orion at once, not only the stars but the constellation as a whole. The guide part is because when Orion is visible, u know what directions North, South, East and West are. It has been an aid for sailors since history.

Getting bored one night when I was out of minutes I stumbled across this thread and thought the original topic -- how did you come up with your forum name -- was a pretty cool idea worth revisiting

I chose wichita -- creatively -- because I grew up outside of Wichita, Kansas. After spending the past 3 years in grad school in Indiana that fact has become a big part of my identity, being the only Kansan in my group.
