I bet there'd be a lot of children murderers which kinda puts a darker spin on the game. Killing adults in a game where you can't see it is OK. Children is a bit close to the line.

It's a game simulating real life as closly as we dare for ease of gameplay. If it is possible in RL then, IMO, it should be possible in game, the only exceptions would be things that over complicate the game,

You should be able to carry children with you, like on the road and such. THen you could, have a raiding party come in, steal stuff, destroy stuff, kill people, and then run off with some children to enslave!

The killing of children would create a differetn mood.
Now in a few cases when someone kills a person they have a chance of talking they're way out of it.
Killing a child would create a different reaction.

Maybe. But if a child dies by someone's crossbows isn't that kinda being too gruesome?

Yes it would be gruesome. It would denitely make guards and criminals alike think twice about doing it.

Depnds on what you mean by fun.

Characters getting killed for nothing or next to it isn't fun for the killed.
Putting children in the mix would increase the consequences for killers' fun.

Why is it that killing an adult is not considered as bad as killing a child? Surely the loss of life incurred by both is equally immoral and wrong?

Not really. Adults have a better chance of defending themselves. Plus, children are considered innocent in that they have not yet been introduced to reality of the world so because of their ignorance of that reality they are considered innocent. In other words they see things in a different light then adults and so on.

Still, human life is human life is it not? So we should be just as horrified by the death of an adult as by the death of a child.

I'm just stating where a lot of people are coming from, Solfius.

There are some adults in the world that don't deserve to live while there aren't any children (under 10 years of age) that are like that. Plus, the main point is that adults have a chance to defend themselves and would most likely understand why they die while children most likely wouldn't be able to defend themselves or understand why they die.

I'll follow you there then.

What is worse seeing a tree get felled or stepping on sapling that will never know what it is like to be tree?

No one wants the trees felled but I have to make the crossbow out of wood right?

well there you are comparing human life to plant life, and they are quite different. They both live, but humans are intelligent, to a dgree above other animals.

When discussing things such as eating meat, chopping down trees etc I take the view it's us or them, and I'd choose us, whilst bearing in mind sustainability
