Well, to discribe the connection you have in holland, from the slowest till the fastest:

28.8 till 56.6: Modem, sucks ;). Is the slowest you have (I think)

Cable: I think from 64 till 2048. The problem is, is that you *share* the line with your neighboures. So when they start using internet, you're speed drops.

ADSL/SDSL: from 256 till 8mbit (and sometimes more, not really for *normal* use).

Cable rent (or whatever): With this, you can choose what speed you want. Only for big companies.

But maybe your dad can tell what he thinks broadband is...

Broadband is via a cable, but it can be got via telephone wires. It allows you to be online and use the hpone (if over the same telephone line) on average it is 10 times faster than a 56k modem

Well, than ADSL is exactly the same as the broadband you discribe...

ADSL at our place goes over new cables (glasfibre or whatever), and it's possible to make phone calls, when connected to the internet.

And I also said broadband is for me about 512kbit/s download or more... 56 * 10 = 560kbit/s download. The same, as you see.

ISDN is almost the same as Broadband, I believe the difference is that ISDN can't get to the high speeds broadband can get.

ADSL is the same DSL.
Adsl: Asymmetric Digital Subscribers Line.
Sdsl: Symmetric Digital Subscribers Line.

Some info on ADSL.
Even more info.

I'm not sure. I forgot.

But I think this happens more than just sometimes, XBL. Maybe we should use the word often.

Mine is thingnumber2...because, all my friends, never could tell me and my twin bro apart, so they just called us thingnumber1 and thingnumber2, which, for some reason, worked....
