Auto log-out

Postby Jetlag » Wed Feb 02, 2005 10:58 am

I just lost 30 minutes because my internet connection died :(

I also often lose minutes because the phone rings, or whatever, and I get distracted.

Would it be possible to implement an auto-log-out for people logged in but idle for, say, 10 minutes? That way, the most someone could lose in one go would be 10 minutes.

When you say "died" , what exactly do you mean, out of interest? I take it you don't just mean it got cut off.

Well, the router is in another room, so I don't know what happened to it. I just suddenly couldn't get any response from Cantr, other web sites, email, or anything else beyond the LAN. Half an hour later, it all started working, and I discovered I was still logged into Cantr, with considerably fewer minutes left.

I suspect the router needed a kick, it does that sometimes. :?

I'm fairly certain Cantr already automatically logs you out after a certain amount of time - at least it's happened to me before... Not sure how long it is though...

I was a little surprised I hadn't been logged out. Maybe the time just needs reduced.

This actually isn't true. Cantr will give you an error if you log in using a different window and then come back to your original window, or do something else funky like that. But there's no auto-logout.

On the bright side, if you press the log out button (or just close the window, or just go back to www.cantr.net) that action won't contribute to your minutes. as long as you remeber not to touch any other buttons in the cantr page after you come back from being away for a while, there's nothing to worry about.
DOOM!
